    M,

My M6400 came with an 80GB 7200RPM drive. I bought 2 320GB 7200RPM drives from NewEgg for $99 each. I took out the 80GB OEM drive as a snapshot of the original install and added the 2 drives in its stead. The 2nd drive bay came with a perforated cage and SATA bridge (they have a wierd name for it "interposer"). The bridge and 4 screws were imbedded into a piece of dark gray foam that was inside of the perforated 2nd bay caddy. I did not notice them at first until I turned the foam over. I almost threw away the foam. I did not have to buy anything else.

    HTH,
    Tim

    Kroton,

Thanks for the info. I just bought MSDN 2008 Premium with Visual Studio and downloaded XP x64 today. I shrunk my C (XP 32-bit) partition, made a XP 64-bit partition and a third data partion.

I am trying to install XP x64 into the 2nd partition as a dual boot XP 32/64 configuration. The XP x64 disk starts to install and then blue-screens when it is trying to install windows ontop of the RAID0 configuration. It does not make it to the point where it asks the user what partition to install it in. Do you have any ideas? Did you have to install any RAID drivers into the XP x64 bit install? I did not have to install any RAID drivers when I installed XP 32-bit.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Check inside the caddy for a dark gray piece of foam. My interposer and 4 mounting screws were imbedded into this dark gray piece of foam. Hopefully, you did not throw it out.

SHouldn't have to. Ok - so I can't speak for the M6400, but I have the same raid hardware on my P380 (Intel Matrix thing) - and that accepted XP, XP64 & Vista 64 with no problems at all - in both RAID0 and RAID5.

    LS,

What does the 3700M give you over the 2700M? The speed is the same, it has more memory and more shaders. I drive 2 external DELL 24" flat panels @ 1920x1200 for my office and engineering work. I do not do games and find the lesser card in my M90 to drive the twin flat panels fine. I have not yet tried the M6400 with the twin 24's yet, but expect them to perform at least as well as what is in the M90. Unless you are doing intensive 3-D animations, I don't know what the 3700M would give you over the 2700M.

    I appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Question:
    Answer:
    :D :D

To drive 2 external monitors you don't even need a FX 2700. The FX 370 in my old M2300 was enough for that.
