A simple question without reading 80+ pages. Does the basic M6400 with the $299 17" UltraSharp™ WUXGA (1920x1200) RGB LED come with a MATTE screen? I understand the Covet version is a matte screen with a piece of glass over it, but I would rather not have the glare of the glass, if possible.

    Thanks

You can have both, the E2E Version of the covet and a matte version! They're both matte, but the E2E Display is covered by a glass plate (glossy).

UPDATE: After getting a call this morning reminding me about the dell-ay and the revised 12/5 ship date, 3 hours later the status changed to "Shipped".

My utter bewilderment is only overshadowed by excitement. Although after how "persistent" I've been, I won't be surprised if I receive a burnt orange painted shoebox with Fisher Price keys stuck in it and a View-Master glued on top.

Have been lurking here for a couple of weeks now... lots of interesting posts.

Am also waiting for delivery of my M6400... estimated for Dec 19th.

It was previously asked if anyone is running linux on this machine, but the question was either lost in the chatter or everyone's sticking with Windows.

I'll bring it up again... anyone have any linux install experiences with the M6400 they wish to share?

    Thanks

Like you I am amazed at how little technology this company seems to employ. How did they get to be where they are without decent scheduling software?

I was expecting an etch-a-sketch in blood orange -- or maybe a magna doodle -- nothing as facny as a view master! :D

That design on the jog/track pad does look a bit like it was made with a Spirograph set. ;)

Yeah keep the jobs in the US and then add another $1000 to the price of every laptop to cover the extra workers pay. Good thinking.

I actually owned an m90 untill the graphic card went bad yesterday. i called gold tech support told me nvidia is actualyl buying back the gpu but since the wait is over a mnth to get the replacement gpus, the rep offered to swap me out a mchines for free. he said the m6400 is the replacement to the m90, i asked him wat were the specs for the machine. he said it will be like or better then wat i have... has anybody else here at this happen to them?

does this officially make me a m6400 owner even though i didnt technically pay for one?

i dont know if i should be excited to get the 6400,, or if i will miss my m90 too much..

id appreciate it if some of the people here would tell me if i should or shouldnt be excited? and wat are the chances i will get the quad core edition..lol or even a covet edition...hehe

p.s. i know this is a dumb post. sorry im just confused. all replies are appreciated.
