I'm having problem fixing the panel edid according to the guide.
When I live start lubuntu, and run the shell, the system does not recognize the monitor and it is not shown up. In the sensore report i cannot find those entries descripted in the guide.

I just have some Radeon i2c bit bus 0x90
    Till to 0x97

    and

    Card0-DP-1
    Till to 3

    Do yiu know why?

That it cannot identify the lcd was to be expected, but it should still have shown up on the i2c bus. All that needs is an eeprom hooked up, no matter what data was stored on it.

When you hit 'sudo sensors-detect', what return do you get for 'Using driver 'i2c- ... '? The '...' ought to be the chipset all the i2c buses are (indirectly) connected to. So the 'Radeon' thing is a bit weird, considering the M6600 uses an Intel PCH.

    Yes, it is really strange.
Bus i2x-i801, that is the one i scan next.

I don't even have a Radeon! It is a FireGL, of which it probaby sees the processor and associate a Radeon.

Ok, can you copy/paste the complete log? Just to make sure; the 'DP' buses didn't show something that looked even remotely like an edid? Mainly the '00 FF FF ... FF 00' start header is what to look for, but this part can be corrupted too.

    Code:
    00 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 06 AF 9D 21 00 00 00 00
    00 17 01 04 90 26 15 78 02 C8 95 9E 57 54 92 26
    0F 50 54 00 00 00 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
    01 01 01 01 01 01 E2 36 80 B8 70 38 20 40 30 64
    36 00 7D D6 10 00 00 1A E2 36 80 B8 70 38 20 40
    30 64 36 00 7D D6 10 00 00 1A 00 00 00 FE 00 50
    39 4A 4E 4B 80 42 31 37 33 48 57 30 00 00 00 00
    00 00 41 02 96 01 11 00 00 02 01 0A 20 20 00 05

And yes, it's based on the same chip, just with different firmware.

Hey, so I've got a M6600 and I was thinking of upgrading the GPU to a Firepro W7170m from a Precision 7710. Previously I tried to upgrade a Precision M4600 to a W5170m from the same laptop and it wasn't able to output to the internal display, apparently because it only supported eDP and not LVDS, and the M4600 uses LVDS. From what I can tell, the M6600 has both an LVDS and an eDP connector on the motherboard. Would a W7170m work in the m6600 if I just installed a regular eDP panel? Would I need to buy the interposer board and all that, or could I just plug the eDP panel directly into the motherboard? I haven't been able to find very much clear information about how the M6600 display is set up, so I may be very wrong about something.

The M6600 eDP port is only for the IPS panel that originally shipped with the unit. I doubt you could install a regular "modern" eDP panel in it, even if the cable connector is the same, the mounting hardware on the screen would be different.

I doubt that the bracket will be an issue. I have two of these laptops, and for the first one I got the cheapest 1080p panel I could find, a Toshiba B173HW02 for $30 on Ebay. It works just fine (using the LVDS output.)

Hello. After i make a Dell Precision M6500 RGB-LED and a Dell Precision M6500 RGB-LED Edge to Edge Covet Edition (i have boot in this moment, and if you wont i sell!), in this moment i make a Dell Precision M6600 IPS RGB-LED PremierColor.

    I have:

Dell Precision M6600 Complete Unit with 17.3 FHD W-LED

Dell Precision M6600 Complete Monitor Assembly IPS with Cable, Braket, Color Management Unit, but without LCD Panel.

I need only of a LCD Panel LP Philips LP173WF3 SL B1, right? The SL B2, SL B3, SL B4 is compatible? Or change?

Another question: Dell Precision M6600 not exist in Covet Edition? Thanks?

    Hello Everyone!
This topic guide is incorrect! I followed parts guide from first post and i have good news and bad news.

Laptop Dell precision m6700 FHD not RGB but with GTX980M and 3940xm =)

I ordered all parts from first post
1 RGB cover assembly(with hinges rgb board and cables) from parts-people for 45$
2 Lcd LP173WF3 (SL) (B4) from disassembly for around 30$
3 RGB LCD bezel F9WY9 or 0F9WY9 (without camera hole) for 15$
4 Right lcd bracket NJ5VH from ebay for 15$

When i started assemble whole RGB LCD unit i realized that i also need the left bracket as well as my lcd wasnt sitting flush with the bezel it was around 2 mm deeaper that it should be. And i figured out that i dont really need those bracket i can reuse my non rgb bracket with some washers and little longer screws. I found 8 washers for 2mm each and 8 screws longer for 2mm each and started measuring and it all feet's as it should be!
So there could be a couple $ saving if reuse your old brackets.
I can confirm that LP173WF3 (SL) (B4) works perfect on precision m6700 with no issue even overclocked to 75HZ (80HZ is max working refresh rate)

And i'm pretty happy with my laptop now the color difference is huge even that original fhd display was very good for TN panel the IPS is much better!
Is it worth it? YES)) for 105$ i got fully working upgrade! As i will upgrade gpu to 1070 or 1080 in future and it doesn't support LVDS only EDP so i'm ready for it)) Also i got couple of scratches on my old cover and now my laptop looks like new))

Where did you happen to get that display? I've been looking for one for some time; would like to know where I could source one at a decent price.
