I have been having issues with my graphics driver since upgrading to windows 7. I have a hp lw2475 display that I connect via display post. This display has multicolor lines across the top and other artifacts along the left side. I have included a photo of the problem.

This problem only appeared after I upgraded to windows 7. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers several times. I even tried the driver from Nvidia's website. When I connect the display via VGA I have no issues.

Some times when I turn on the second display, windows gives me a message saying the the Nvidia driver has stopped working but has recovered.

Just set up the DisplayPort->HDMI cable the other day to watch a movie on my flatscreen - Worked PERFECTLY. I did not install any additional drivers.

That's weird. Did you install the beta driver from nvidia or the WHQL one? I had the driver crapping out sometimes when i ran newer versions than the one on the Dell site. Never had any issues with the one provided by Dell though. Did you run driver sweeper before installing another driver to make sure nothing remains of the old drivers?

I only installed the whql drivers. I just tried driver sweeper and reinstalled the dell driver but it did not help.

This problem does not occur with the VGA connection. I wonder if it could be something with hdcp since its a HD display? I contacted HP and they told me to contact dell and Nvidia. I'm sure dell and Nvidia will do the same. Kinda sucks, I have a $600 monitor that I cant properly use with my workstation.

Maybe it's just your DP connector or cable. Get a new cable and try that, if that doesn't help it might still be the DP connector on your lappy but that would mean a mobo replacement :(

I have tried a second cable but it did not help. I don't think its the DP connector because it worked prior to the me installing windows 7 just last week. I wish i had another monitor with a display port so that I could test it.

I installed the video driver for 64bit vista and that seams to have fixed my problem.

Could it be your media card reader?
