Hi all. I have problem with WIN 7 and DELL E6400 fingerprint reader. I have installed security manager, last security driver pack, i see broadcom USH device in device manager in "credential vault device" so everything seems ok, but when i try to enroll my fingerprint, setup tells me "CONNECT FINGERPRINT READER" .. i got same text when i restart my pc and try to log in with finger... again i can only type in password, fingerprint is not connected. I dont understand what´s missing.. anybody know? thx very much :)

aaahhh.... driver or hardware "enable" thingy.... since you mentioned: fingerprint is not connected

coz, if its connected, it's an unidentified driver. but since, it says not connected; then, maybe, you should try to enable it

also install wifi drivers from intel direct, the IDT audio driver, the touchpoint driver, and bluetooth, unless it is somehow working without it.

The touchpad seems very slow with the default Windows 7 64bit clean install. Are there better more compatible drivers? I tried the one on Dell's web site for the Vista 64 version of this machine and it "could not start."

    Well it works for me.
Try running the software under Vista SP1 compatibility mode.

Are you suggesting running the driver in Vista SP1 compatibility mode? I didn't know there was such a thing. It's the driver that isn't starting. I haven't even tried the application.

Is your trackpad moving quickly or does it take like ten strokes to get the cursor across the screen?

    huh?
No you cannot run a driver under compatibility mode. I thought that the setup was not running. Because Vista and Win7 driver architecture is nearly identical, Vista drivers works under Win7. Therefore, running the setup under Vista compatibility mode, will allow it to install, and not show an error message. But apparently, this is not the issue, and it would seam that I miss understood your problem.

My trackpad and trackpoint under Win7 64-bit works identically as under Vista 64-bit.
