The backlit keyboard switch mode is done at a hardware level, it can be changed in the BIOS, under any operating system that exists in this planet for this kind of system and at any time.

    They are no drivers.

The on screen notification is from Dell Control Panel which installs and works under Win7 64-bit (although the on screen volume and brightness does not perfectly all the time, but it doesn't affect functionality (ie: the bar doesn't follow the true level, sometimes).

I have the intel 5300 AGN WiFi card and the Verizon WWAN card - the issue occurs independent of whether the previous connection was WiFi or WWAN. I don't have that computer in front of me at the moment, so I don't have the details, but the WiFi is using the current Vista 64 driver downloaded from Dell and the WWAN card is using the standalone Dell Mobile application (which avoids the need to involve Dell Control Point unless absolutely necessary).

It works for me - I installed that part of Dell Control Point.

I have been having BT 370 issues here.

When using A2DP it will just drop off the bus completely. I will be listening to something and then the BT370 will completely disappear. It's gone from device manager. Even sliding the wireless switch on and off does not bring it back. I have to power down the machine and then power it back on. Just restarting does not work.

I have tried 2 versions of the Dell drivers and also the latest Anycomm Beta's (8500) maybe. I have also replaced the BT370 card with another one.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I installed the Dell 370 BT drivers and it keeps giving the Unable to Start Bluetooth stack service error.

So I'm about to install Windows 7 on my 1-day old E6400, on which I already flashed the BIOS.

Now my question is, I went into w7 setup, and it didn't give me an option to break a partition of my current 7200rpm HDD, so I can dual boot XP and Windows 7. When I installed W7 on my desktop at home I was able to do so. Is there a particular reason for this, can I only do a clean install?

As far as drivers, this is what I have ready to go:

    Intel Mobile Chipset
    Intel Matrix Driver
Intel 5300 WiFi driver (from intel)
    Gigabit Ethernet
    Audio Driver
    Latest Nvidia Driver from Nvidia
    Dell Trackpad
    Dell System Utility
    Dell Ambient Light Sensor

Is there anything on that list I don't need/want? I'm assuming I don't want Dell Control Point/Control Manager.

Also, is there anything missing that should be on there? For example, I do not know what the Ricoh Driver is, or the AMT SOL/LMS & AMT HECI drivers.

    Thanks in advance.

I had kind of the same issue. When i got out of standby the machine would be unresponsive for some time. You notice it when you want to enter something in a search field or addres bar nothing will appear.

What worked for me was disabeling the SMART CARD service. I never installed it on my notebook and noticed that there where error messages in the log file for this device when i powerd up from standby.

    Hope it helps..

Anyway Windows 7 RC WORKS GREAT!!! on my E6400. I'm definitely going to buy it when it releases in Oktober.

I am trying this - so far it seems to help. There are a couple really minor annoyances left in W7, but they are minor enough I can't think of them easily. If this works, then I'm sold on W7. Good riddance to Vista.

Dell will release Win7 drivers for sure. From there everything should work perfectly, and the nest version should be more optimized if they are not.
