Yeah, I moved and had to get a USB wireless card to use in place of my internal one as the signal could not reach quite far enough to be stable without dropouts (I have it on a long usb extention and taped to the outside of my room).

I was a netgear WN111v2 and the driver software would not work in Windows 7. Unfortunately had to make the choice between internet and Windows 7, so formatted and back on Vista until netgear release compatible drivers.

been running W7 64-bit smoothly on my E6400 until recently. :(

for some reason, it no longer likes the Dell docking station. When I try to log-in with the laptop docked, it'll just sit at the Welcome screen until I eventually give up and turn it off. It logs in normally when off the dock though.

Anyone with any immediate suspicions? I had been using it fine on the dock until recently (past week or so).

EDIT: I just remembered that I installed the beta of Microsoft Security Essentials and this seems to be the culprit. After uninstalling, the laptop logs in just fine. Strange.

Well it's beta, and your system don't have any official Win7 drivers.
if you are up for some testing, try and disable Real-time protection in Microsoft Security Essential, I wonder if that will fix your problem.

Ok, guys I re-installed Windows 7 completely on my latitude E6400 just to see what is the problem. I am unable to replicate it.
    - My system is on a SATA ACHI mode in the BIOS.
    - My system DOES NOT have Dell SATA drivers installed.
    - My system DOES NOT have the Intel motherboard drivers installed (or anything Intel related)
    - Display drivers are the mobiles ones from Nvidia website
    - IDT sound card drivers has been installed
    - Dell Control Point software has been installed
    - Dell Security Drivers has been installed.
    - Dell mouse drivers (Alps drivers)
    - RICOH drivers
    - Windows Dell driver package
    - Wired Ethernet is diabled from BIOS so I did not need to install the drivers.
    - Wireless drivers of my Intel 5100 wireless N card are the default ones from Windows 7.
That is all. Does it help?

I have no idea, i'm too busy to keep reinstalling windows every few months/weeks/days, so i think i'm going back to vista x64, until the good stable version of 7 is available. I already switched back to vista on my desktop.

Same problem here as well. Disabling the smartcard device and service did not affect anything. I'd be very interested in any ideas.

I only re-install Windows 7 to try to reproduce the problem. What I am suggesting is if you have installed the other driver, that maybe uninstalling them should resolve the issue.
