no clue, but it does make me want to ask -- why on earth are you using a screen saver? it just wastes energy and creates heat. (you haven't actually NEEDED a screen saver since the days of CRT). If your answer is aesthetics because you like it, cool stuff. but if it is for some other reason, you should disable it anyway.

To add: LCD's and Plasma, well have a Lamp hour... so actually the best thing is to have the screen close.

What can I say, I just like to use a screensaver... But further to your and GoodBytes' reply I've verified whether my screen powers down according to my power plan settings and it doesn't. I'll take a look in my event log to see what's happening.

This is a power option setting. Control Panel > Power Options.

it sounds like it isn't going idle then. do you have the webcam installed? there was a problem with an earlier version of the webcam software causing a similar issue. if not, let us know what software you are using, and what hardware/drivers.

Hi, wondering if anyone has gotten the Dell 5530 wireless broadband card to work under Win7 x64. I get an error about the smart card and that there is no driver. I am trying the Vista x64 A06 driver ( I have also tried A01 and A02, but no luck).

I have not tried the DCP connection manager for vista x64 - been trying to keep my DCP to a minimum.

    Thanks, Chris

I don't have the wireless card.. but I believe it's a Broadcom that makes the Dell one.

Smart Card was detected and drivers installed on my Windows 7 64-bit. I don't know if it works, as I have no smart card to test it, therefore I have not installed the security software for it.

    Hello
I just install win7 (clean) on my new e6400. Then I started to install all drivers in order which i read on dell's website.
    1. System Software
    2. 2. ChipSet (R182522)
    3. Intel_Matrix-Storage-Manager_A05_R218081
    4. INTEL_MATRIX-STORAGE-MANAGER_A06_R213316
    5. Audio
    6. Video
    7. Chipset Cardbus (R188776)

    8. DCP - first manager (there were two.. in that categories - "Drivers and Applications" and "Applications". I installed both.
Then seccurity - everythink works ok
At the end - connection, and this app didn't install succesfull - i dont know why. After that when i entered the DCP - i cant connect to any wireless net (only in DCP).

    9. Then i want to install all the network drivers.. and i can't none of these.
    MICROSOFT_WINDOWS-VISTA-SP1-_A01_R204794
    R194579
    R211478
    R216468 (bluetooths software)

The last one - Bluetooth application too. The error was showing to turn on the wireless switch.. (It is ON.. i tried OFF and ON). Bluetooth is not even in Device Manager.

So, from the first look, everythink is fine. Only bluetooth is not working.. and backlit keyboard - but I think it could be the hardware problem (should i use my warrant on this?)

Is there a possibility, that i will not have that issues when I install XP, and upgrade to Win7?
