    Hello,

I have the same Problem. My monitor IIyama B2409HDS doesn't work with the displayport of my E6400. I don't understand why ? I didn't see the displayport on my graphics settings.
    Could you help me ?
    please.

I bought a displayport cable to HDMI. My HDMI port on my monitor works perfectly.

    Thanks,

    laboli

Ah easy here is the solution:

    Hope this help.

We can't read minds. You need help, you need to give us details.

1- What is your system configuration?
2- What is your graphic card of your system?
3- Did you install all the latest drivers of your system?
4- What Operating System are your using?
5- Is it the 32 or 64-bit version?
6- Do you have ANY other devices connected to your laptop?
7- Is your laptop dock on some station or not?
8- Did you ensure that the cable that your purchased is not broken?
    9- Define "Not working"?
and 10- Does your computer start saying "kill all humans" repeatedly?

    Thanks.
    Welcome to Notebookreview community :D

    Yes.
Stop and Disable the following service:
    - Ambient Light Sensor

Now set to Manual the following service:
    - Adaptive Brightness

Restart your computer and it should work fine. For me, under Win7 64-bit, it works just as good as under Vista 64-bit.

I'm going to have to look at see if I missed installing something. Adaptive Brightness does show up in services, but Ambient Light Sensor does not.

UPDATE: Found what I was missing, configured services as mentioned, but the screen still has problems when lowering brightness.

UPDATE2: Somehow the Intel graphics drivers are related to this issue. Working on a possible idea.

I have no probs with Win 7 RC 32 & an ext. Display + LCD TV, connected to the dockingstation & Intel graphics via DVI cable (22'' TFT @ 1680 X 1050) & DVI to HDMI cable (32'' LCD TV @ 1920 X 1080). I use the Intel driver 8.15.10.

I was just going to ask someone to post a version number for the drivers. Did you download those direct from Intel or from Dell?

I've tried both 1808 and 1873. ALS and DCP is installed, but the services are set to what you recommended.

No matter what, if the Intel drivers are installed, I have issues with the brightness.

Ah, I used the second release of Dell Control Point, as i find it way better (doesn't exist full screen games/video, uses less resources, and faster)
That sounds like a Intel GPU driver issue that you are having. If the issue was happening for a Nvidia GPU for some odd reason, then my tool on my signature has the ability to force the GPU to not handle the screen brightness. It help a lot of people based on the e-mails I got of people feedback.
