Same thing is happening with the Intel drivers available through Windows Update.

This is getting annoying. GPU drivers shouldn't conflict with proprietary power saving tools.

It is definitely an Intel issue. With DCP and ALS completely uninstalled on the computer, the brightness issue will only show up with Intel installed.

Seems like the first step is for me to find Intel drivers that actually work. Dell's latest official release is 1637 I believe...I'm going to try that.

UPDATE: Dell's driver download R212488 (Intel drivers customized by Dell) may be the solution. I'm installing ALS and DCP to be sure, but right now I can fully control the screen brightness like I should be able to with this release.

quick question to some of the e6400 users out there with the Nvidia Graphics. Is the Aero Graphics score higher than what i have. Cause to my knowledge my machine doesn't have a very high score in Aero Here's my reference screenshot

This is normal. It's because the memory is only 64-bit and not 128-bit. 128-bit consumer 2 times more power than 64-bit.

My battery life estimate time left, got fixed. But when on Power Saver, the CPU minimum speed is at 1500MHz, when in Balance it's 795MHz. So Balance gives me a greater battery life than Power Saver. However, I am SURE it's either a Windows 7 RC1 bug or a driver related issue.

I am having problems with my Windows7 screensaver. No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to activate. The previews appear to work fine, but after a period of inactivity it just doesn't want to come up. Additionally, every time I reboot the computer, the Wait period is re-set to 999 minutes.

Does anybody have any idea what may cause this?

    Thanks

I'm still having issues with the Ambient Light Sensor. I'm going to try reinstalling W7 and using just the drivers that I already know work, its possible there are conflicting drivers or the wrong version driver still installed on the E6400.
