I saw this on the E4300 yesterday, running W7-64 and the latest Dell touchpad driver. There's clearly a bug there.

yes, or at least i have had problems with not having mouse control after sleep. i don't think it is a driver crash, though. i think it has something to do with the software (because if you open the dell touchpad program and use the keys to disable and reenable the devices, they come back up).

I need to perform a correction to what I said. You have to disable the touchpad > apply settings then enable touchpad once more and apply settings. Then it will work again, until next sleep that is :/ I suggest to use Vista drivers instead, until next WIn7 driver release.

The following is the instruction to perform with the use of the keyboard only to make the touchpad work again.

Unplug any mouse devices on your USB ports (of any), then do:
Win Key > type: Mouse > With keyboard direction key select "mouse".
The mouse panel should appear, at the tab called "Dell Touchpad". From there: hit the space key > hit the d key > Tab key > Tab key (once again) > Down key > A key, wait 2 second > T key > Up arrow > A key, wait 2 second.

    Now your touchpad should work.

Curiosity question, do you have a Logitech Mouse with Logitech SetPoint install (mouse software). I wonder if that is the problem.. like if there is a conflict between both software.

GB, i have been having problems, and i do have SetPoint installed. but to test that theory i have uninstalled it, and i feel like the problem MAY have persisted, i am not sure. i'll let you know if i get a definite. (it certainly seems to happen less)

edit -- i can confirm the problem happens even without setpoint or any logitech software installed.

I'll be testing that myself, but I need time and require to put Win7 official on my laptop to exclude any Windows 7 RC bugs.

No Logitech SetPoint here. The only external mouse I use is a Dell USB optical mouse.

Look under your mouse to see if the Dell mouse is not a Logitech, and the mouse software is Logitech SetPoint but with a different name and theme. I know that some Dell mouse are really Logitech.

Please note that I am not criticizing Logitech products, I am just seeing is that is the problem (a conflict).

There's no sign of Logitech branding anywhere - I also just use it as plug and play. I reverted to the latest vista drivers that were on the dell support site yesterday so I'll let you know if the issue continues.
