Is it (readings) reliable? Does it need any corrections?

    Hi there!

Yesterday, I installed the new wireless driver from their homepage after my bluetooth driver had some issues and I thought maybe I should reinstall all drivers. The Bluetooth is working fine again, however, dell's new wireless driver http://support.dell.com/support/dow...typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=364551
does not find any wireless network anymore.
I even uninstalled it again and installed the version I had on before, but it's not working anymore. My device manager says everything is working properly but something is apparently not working...

    Has anybody experienced similar issues?

ps: my wire connection works as well as my bluetooth, I can also see the blue WiFi LED but Windows 7 64 bit Ulimate Edition just cannot find any wireless networks

    Thanks in advance!

    Salut le.gentleman!

I had the very same problem, but I managed to fix it. I'm guessing you also have the intel 5300 wireless card - so I'll provide you a step by step guide that did the trick for me.

-First of all, uninstall all drivers&software for the wireless card.
-Then download the drivers directly from the intel support page. Make sure you download just the driver (zip) and not the software package.
-Open the ZIP file and extract it (and remember where you extracted it to).
-Then reboot, hit F8 during boot to enter safe mode with network drivers.
-In safe mode, install the wireless card via the device manager, using the drivers you extracted.
    -Reboot and youre done.

You wont have the Intel software, but the driver should be working. Havent tried to install the intel software, I dont think you really need it.

I hope I could help you!

Yes, I do have indeed the 5300 card. Thank you very much for the detailed description - I will try it right away.

Thanks again and I will report back...

Just must recommend downloading the lasted Dell 5530 3G drivers for win 7! I have now uninstalled the horrible dell connection manager and just use win 7 built in 3g connection thing. Works much better!

For those of you with the integrated webcam, how does Windows 7 handle it?

I'd rather NOT install the Vista driver. Does 7 have a default driver for it? I ask because Dell has yet to post a webcam driver under Windows 7.

win7 handles it fine, but if you want any real control over the webcam, you really need to install the dell webcam central. the driver itself may be available through winupdate, i kinda forget. either way, whatever the driver (vista or otherwise), it works fine on win7. there was a version of it a while back that was a problem, but ive had no issues since.

I only want the webcam to work with AIM, Skype, etc.

I don't need Dell Webcam Central.

Thanks for letting me know it works!
