FWIW: I can't find any of the components mentioned in the above article on the Dell. They may very well exist, but I can't find them.

Has anyone tried disabling wireless? I have a vostro 1400 and I don't seem to get full system lockups after disabling wireless...but how can you live without wireless? I've already tried reinstalling the wireless drivers and that didn't help, still have freezes with wireless on.

I hope I-RAM finds a solution to the lockup problem because I am this close to giving up on buying an M4400 and going for a macbook pro instead.

I was about to buy ThinkPad T61p but since my company can get a good deal on Dell with better specs and connectivity I am hasitating. However if this problem persists I won't go for dell. I'll wait for driven01 and I-Ram experience reviews.

Looks like the new PC arrived today. Unfortunately it arrived at my home and I'm on the road. I'll configure on Friday (when I get home) and report back.

Driven, let us know the status.

I've spoken to a Dell specialist recently and we've made some progress. It is indeed a tough issue to track down, and he ensures (or feels very strongly) that the replacement system (newer ones) will not have this problem.

Looks like everything will be okay. We'll see 1-2 weeks from now when this exchange is finished.

I installed SP1 today and that fixed my full system lockup problems on my Vostro 1400 just in case someone of you haven't installed it yet.
