Some additional information: when trying to install certain other drivers I also didn't succeed.

    Not installed:
    Intel Driver AMT SOL/IMS
    Inter Driver AMT HECI
    Creative Labs Integrated Webcam

    Maybe some sort of connection?

Intel AMT is Active Management Technology which is aimed at corporate networks. I don't think have anything to do with the webcam.

I confirmed that you need the disk from Dell last night. The disk comes with the original packaging. The file on the dell support site only updates this original installation.

I also have the same issue, the device is not even in device manager even as an unknown device,it was working perfectly and the one day just lost it... I almost regret for buying this notebook, I also have many other issues and dell's support in Greece is terrible....HP compaq and hp elitebooks for EVER!

Since many people don't seem to have their webcam driver disc, I have zipped up the contents of the disc and put it here. Give it a try.

I have a question about this too. It seems like what you guys are talking about is the Dell webcam software, but what about the driver itself? I downloaded the latest one from the Dell site (CREATIVE-LABS_INTEGRATED-WEB_A03_R200491.EXE), and tried installing just the driver.

But what happens when I do this the first time is that it'll install, and then somewhere between 90% complete and the actual "restart your computer" screen, XP (32 bit) will blue screen on me. The first clean reformat was so bad that it'd blue screen every time as soon as XP loaded. The second time, well, at least Windows will start again. And while it says the driver is installed, trying to access the webcam, I get this logo of two people silhouettes with a small yellow lock between them.

Then when I try to uninstall it, halfway through it'll say there was an error, and then it'll ask me to disconnect the webcam (which obviously is impossible). But after uninstalling, I'll at least be able to see the webcam feed via My Computer -> USB Video Device. The Dell webcam software no longer recognizes it though, and says there's no driver. Any ideas?

You first need to install the webcam driver which came (or should have) with your computer before you try to install the software.

If you can't find the CD then read the previous post in this thread.

Also, the first software you should install is the Dell System Utility which contains numerous patches and hotfixes that are needed to get to the other Dell drivers and software to work properly.

Ah, I skipped the drivers disk and figured I could just get all of the updated ones from the Dell site. I also skipped the Systems Utility because I'd read a few things against it (though what they were isn't coming to mind right now).

But if that's the case, I'll give it another go and start with that then. Thanks John!

This post http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4328435&postcount=1387 records my recent clean install of Vista Biz x64. The install order was prescribed by a Dell tech. I vaguely recall the webcam device showing up ok in Device Manager after the initial Vista install. I got all drivers from dell.com. I did install the Dell Webcam Central app from the OEM CD. Then patched it with the dell.com patch to make it work.

The unrelated Intel AMT drivers will not install without first installing the Dell Security Driver... which I did not install.
