The optical drive bays are standard size so as long as you get a 9.5mm caddy and it fits a standard drive bay, it should fit in the Precision. Like others have mentioned, there are 12.7mm bays out there so you have to be sure to get the right size. You don't have to get one from Dell. There is a wide selection on eBay. (Granted, the color of the faceplate might not match perfectly.)

Some can hold 9.5mm drives and some can only hold the 7mm drives. Since the optical bay is only 9.5mm tall there's not much room for padding above or below the drive if you want to have a 9.5mm drive inside.

The C: drive inside is PATA, but the connector inside the optical bay is SATA.

I have a second drive in my TP43P ( instead of the DVD ) and that is a SATA .

    Yes, that's the problem.
They are 9,5 mm, but will nor fit....

Do you maybe have a link ( Ebay ? )

I live in Belgium and ordering something form the US is quite expensive for us.

However, China or Hong-Kong is in general no problem.
    Or sometimes the UK.

The face plate looks wrong. It may stick out too much. I have the NewModeUS caddy posted earlier in this thread and it works fine. The only issues are that it sticks out (about 1mm) and it is black instead of brown-ish so it doesn't match the rest of the M6700's exterior. I would like to get the part number of the Dell optical bay hard drive caddy eventually and order it for a cleaner look. I've been running a 3x1TB RAID5 array without any issues using the NewModeUS caddy. YMMV with other caddies on fit and finish.

Sorry, I do not have a link to a 9.5mm caddy and would be no better than you at searching for one.

FWIW here is the product I ordered for my XPS M1710. It is 12.7mm and PATA-SATA, so completely inappropriate for the M6700, but I provide the link to show the price and the supplier...

New Universal 12.7mm PATA IDE to 2nd SATA HDD Hard Drive Disk Caddy Module | eBay

As you will see, the price is very cheap and I hope the supplier remains reliable. Delivery for me was slow, as so often from Hong Kong, but within the forecast timeframe. If delivery timeframe matters to you then avoid ordering from Hong Kong and China anywhere near Chinese New Year as everything gets frozen (not in the temperature sense, but time) for a couple of extra weeks it seems.

I have a rather curious problem with my M6700. Installed Win 8 Pro, turned on UEFI and Fast Boot and now I can no longer enter the BIOS.
When I boot there is no dell logo or any other message. When I press F2 or F12 Win 8 will not boot and the screen simply stays dark.

Yesterday I installed the new A08 BIOS because I thought it might solve the problem, but it didn't. (However I cannot change the brightness of the laptop screen anymore.)

    Can anyone help me?

Not sure about the order of events, but just throwing out there that you can't switch between legacy and UEFI after you install the OS. Switching after install requires a fresh OS install (or a tricky procedure to switch your drive's partition layout). So, if you switch to UEFI after the Windows install, you'll get an unbootable machine.

Now, you should still be able to get into the BIOS and switch back to legacy. If you're locked out of the BIOS altogether, I'd say a call to Dell support may be in order. However, since you were able to upgrade to A08, it seems you are able to use your machine somehow?
