I got the following configuration: M6700, 3940XM, Smartcard Reader Base, nVidia K5000M (BIOS version 80.04.33.00.35), IPS Panel, 16 GB DDR3-1866, Blu-Ray, 2x Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB, Intel Centrino 6300, Bluetooth, FIPS fingerprint reader, - Intel vPro enabled, TPM enabled, UEFI enabled, A08 BIOS, Win 8 Pro

So it's not probably not the nVidia card that causes this behaviour unless it has something to do with the nVidia BIOS version.

I have the same BIOS on my K5000M.

One other thing that stands out is vPro. I don't have it. It's active pre-boot, right?

    Otherwise, it's a mystery. :p

    @ Aaron: have you upgraded to Bios A08 yet ? Is it difficult/tricky ? ( I'm not an ICT-er, only a heavy user ;)

Yes, I upgraded to A08 with no issues. Just run the upgrade tool, it will reboot your system and update automatically.

A couple notes that don't apply to most people:
I have BitLocker enabled and I was prompted for my recovery key after the update. (Same when I upgraded to A06.) If you use BitLocker you should have your key on hand.
If you happen to use Intel SRT (SSD cache), I recommend disabling it for the BIOS update.

    Ahum....probably stupid questions...

    - Where can I enable/disable BitLocker
    - The recovery key ? Is that the long number at the back of my Windows 8 Recovery Media ?
    I see:
    1) DellP/N ....
    2) CN-..........( a very long code )
    3) REV A00

Where can I set INTEL SRT

Sorry, I have to learn a lot yet....

If you didn't specifically turn either of those things on then you are most likely not using them.

BitLocker is Microsoft's full disk encryption solution. Press Winkey+W and type "BitLocker" to find the control panel applet for it.

Intel SRT can be managed from the Intel Rapid Storage Utility, it allows a SSD to be used as a cache drive for a larger HDD for increased performance.

Neither of these is enabled out of the box, so again, if you didn't turn them on you don't need to worry about them. :)

While searching, I opened a tool INTEL RAPID STORAGE TECHNOLOGY ( I had to give permission to the computer, to run it ), but I didn't made any changes.
So you guess, it is OK ?

    Than I will risk it.

And the recovery key ? Is that the key on the back of the recovery DVD ? ( it is named "Windows 8 Recovery Media for Windows 8 Products 64 bit )

    Thx Aaron

The recovery key I mentioned is only for BitLocker and is assigned when you turn BitLocker on. If you don't have BitLocker on you do not need to worry about it.
