Just looked at the manual. Doesn't seem to be any harder than doing it on the M6400. Remove the keyboard bezel, remove the keyboard, swap out the memory. Install keyboard and bezel.

I like the "rubber" feel of the palm pad. Hope it holds up.

I bought my wife a top-end HP-Pavillion that is advertised for 3-D and audio playback (Dr. Drey or something). I just tested the headphone out of the M6700. It has a much quieter noise floor than the HP-Pavillion. I won't tell her that.

Time to configure the WiFi MacAddr filtering and security.

Yeah, I've noticed that new palmrest texture as well, it's definitely got a nice feel to it: a soft, rubbery texture.

Dell has added that texture to the palmrest, which goes up to the speaker trim at the top. It's just the keyboard trim (& keyboard) that still has got the same plastic texture like it's predecessor (the M6600).

According to order status on the Dell website, my (third) M6700 finally shipped today (December 28th). I ordered it on December 4th and estimated delivery date was December 17th. However, it was in production upto and including December 27th.

I took 2 weeks off from work to thoroughly test and upgrade my M6700, but have been twiddling my thumbs instead, waiting for the M6700 to ship. :(

I'm not sure if you mentioned this before, hrana, but what brand memory is this? Is it Corsair Vengeance CMSX16GX3M2A1866C10?

Can you specify the exact type or do you maybe have a URL?

I guess a smooth plastic finish makes it easier to clean. Also, the M6700's keyboard is supposed to be spill-resistent and fluid doesn't stick as much to a smooth plastic finish as it would to a more 'rubbery' texture. I think that's the idea behind it.

A 'rubbery' texture is usually a bit harded to clean, though I don't think this is the case with the palmrest of the M6700.

I can confirm that a 12mm drive will not fit in here at all.

Just for clarity, that would be easy in concept, but because these are some very small and delicate parts, the execution can sometimes be a lot more challenging.

If you're not very experienced under the hood like me, the tough part is not always knowing if a part snaps loose from one direction or the other. Push/pull on the wrong thing or in the wrong way and you're in a lot of trouble.

You also need to know how it comes loose, and where you can apply the pressure or hold it so it comes off without damage. Hopefully you don't have gorilla mitts like some guys I know. Not me. :p

When I removed mine, I took my time and didn't apply too much force when it wasn't working. The teardown guide from Dell gives you the method too so you're not completely in the dark.

    >> Are there anybody who has running Windows 2012 Server on M6700?

I do. You can use windows 7 64 bit drivers for this.

Only issue is with Blue Tooth. Windows 2012 does not support bluetooth.

    everything else works well.

Hmm, speaking of server, has anyone run all the ports simultaneous? What if I'm also burning a blu-ray? What would happens then? Access denied? Catastrophic failure? I can load up all the USBs and make copies for the whole shebang at once.

I stocked up on them during the holiday sales. Believe it or not, all I had before was one USB stick. Now I have 5 of the San Disk micro at 16 and 32mb.

Once my fellow editors see this thing they're going to want to know if it does laundry too. I need new friends.

How many ports would like to see used simultaneously? I can't do the display ports simultaneously, but I do have enough devices to use all 4 USB, either the 5th as USB or eSATA as well as the firewire port and the card reader. The only unused ports would be ethernet, and the various display out. I could always read from disc too. You'd want to know under windows 7 or windows 8?

Now I'm curious, but I won't try it today...
