chances of them replacing it are 50-50. they might argue its wear and tear, unless you have completecover

but for the business systems, they normally do it out of goodwill, unless you get a really annoying CSR

My left grill on my E6400 is also peeling. My palm rest is in excellent shape i would think it would be easy to just repaint
it with a satin black automotive touch up paint then going through the hassle for something this small. heck you don't know what they'll send you as a replacement.

Any updates on this issue, mine is peeling even more now on the left side grill. Has anyone contacted Dell about this yet or found a paint that matches well ?

if your unit is quite new they'll replace it as a goodwill gesture.

Dell screwed this model up badly...paint is peeling on left side also, keyboard sucks and its UGLY - no trim accents like the d620/d630 - no style. I'm pissed at Dell enough to move to a new maufacturer. I loved the d620 - style, no peeling paint. Dell is making things cheap just like every other manufacturer. There goes the franchise. I don't want to PAINT my laptop or put some indelible marker on it. Its NOT my fault that they painted the stupid thing. My d620 has lasted for years, no paint probs- because its very durable black / grey plastic- NO PAINT. Whoever the hell decided to put PAINT on a laptop is STUPID at DELL and should be fired. Whomever is responsible for integrating that STUPID part into a laptop is an idiot and should be fired. And whomever is responsible for the design is stupid as well - its UGLY, all black, no trim, jutting edges, weird shape.

It's been 1 year I have my system, and I have no paint loss, and teh sytem is like new. Except for the keyboard wearing out (like all black low textured keyboard - like the MacBook Pro's).
I liek A LOT the look of the Latitide E series. It says high class, professional, and no show-offing. The D series makes me want to vomit on the floor.. it's like those really ugly beige computer with no effort on designed... but in grayish tone with 60's style rounding.

If I was you, I would have simply contacted the top.. Michael Dell, and see in having my laptop replaced. Or just say that the palm rest fabrication is faulty and have it all changed by pushing it. Or simply return the system when had the chance and order a new one. Then again, I am type of people that is very nice and patient.. but bug me too much or screw me over and I'll go to extremes for the principal of things.

I've had my system for 3 months now and no paint loss here. There are some minor issues (easy for the lid to be scratched, not enough bumpers for the display resulting in scratches etc.).

The E series has great looks, especially for a business laptop. I have received multiple remarks on how slick my E6400 looks.
