I am experiencing the same issue, my left grill near the bottom and now the top left corner has peeling paint. I recently (last week) sent my laptop in on a CPU throttling issue and mentioned the paint (along with a stripped out bottom panel screw that was there the day I got it). They swapped the bottom panel but left the top alone. It doesn't bother me much (experienced horrible pitting on my last laptop, apple powerbook) and doesn't seem too bad, it took a year for mine to show up. I am thinking about trying some modelers paint for metal.

I have the same issue. Paint on right speaker grill on my Dell Latitude E6400 is coming off. It definitely seems like a defect due to bad paint job, cheap paint, whatever you want to call it. NOT happening because of general, expected wear and tear.

Regarding the original poster's question - has anyone touched up the paint on there own that can recommend a specific type of paint that worked well for them?
