Our Dell Rep said that batteries are not compatible with the old generation.

The trade off is that the same new batteries are supposed to work in both the E6420 and E6520. He said the batteries worked across the platform, but I am not sure if he meant the E6320.

I will wait and see when we get the new systems in.

Looks like my E6420 ordered on 3/16 shipped out today and should arrive on Monday. Of course it couldn't have shipped yesterday so I'd have it to play with for the weekend... :)

I know. I'm just nuts. I have the Intel G2 right now and it's really fast. I can only imagine how much faster a newer drive is going to be. I'm looking at the 4k/8k random times since they are obviously more indicative of a drives speed. I think I might be leaning towards the C400/M4. I'll wait a few months until some drives with SATA 3 in mind are on the market.

Sorry, I meant is 3 years for a battery generation good or bad compared to other companies or even Dell's D series. I honestly had no idea, but went and checked online.

    D600, D800 announced 12 March 2003
D620, D820 announced 29 March 2006 along with new battery shape and options that were not compatible
    E6000 Series announced 12 August 2008
E6x20 Series announced 12 Feb 2011 along with new battery shape and options that were not compatible

    I see a pattern :)

Yes, this battery looks quite different. Shame I have a 6 cell and a 9 cell with my E6410 I won't be able to use.

I'm sure that battery is 100% Dell too. LOL

When was your estimated ship date, if I may ask? Just wondering if they're producing them more quickly than anticipated.

I've got an E6520 on its way, ordered 19/03, estimated arrival date 11/04, shipped on 24/03 (to the UK) :D .

    Specs:
Intel Core I7-2720QM(2.20GHz, 6MB cache, Quad Core)
    4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Memory (2x2GB)
    500GB Serial ATA (7200RPM)
    NVIDIA NVS 4200M 512MB (45W) Discrete Graphics
15.6in UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee
    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
    Dell 375 Bluetooth Card
Integrated Full HD Camera with Microphone
    Primary 6 cell 60WHR Battery
3Yr Basic Warranty - Next Business Day
    3Yr Accidental Damage Protection

Bought 8GB of RAM to put in myself and will be swapping out the HDD for my 160GB Intel G2 SSD (might get a Crucial M4 when they come out). Also waiting for the media bay HDD adapters to come on ebay, will put the 500gb in one of those. Will also pick up a 9 cell battery off ebay when they are avaliable
