    C:\Program Files (x86)\hdparm\bin>hdparm -S 12 hdb

Timout dosent work. If I activate this me hdd is still running for years. The only thing I can dow is manual power down the drive with
    hdparm -y hdb

What's the diffrence between -Y and -y? What does standby & sleep mean in this context?

I just received mine. Fits easily into the bay. Looks exactly like on the auction pictures. Its not perfect (there is in fact a little gap on the right side of the bay) but its good enough. The bottom of the caddy also works as a mirror. That's actually an invention... modular bay mirror.

    Will post some pics later.

Edit: Here you go. Picture is clickabul for enlarged experience.

The gap on the left measures 1.85mm.

Fact: With the modular bay drive and esata drive I got 1.3 TB on my E6400. Hell yeah.

Hey sorry if I missed this somewhere, but where did you guys put the DVD drive? Is there some sort of eSATA external case for the DVD drive? If so, what is the part called/where can you purchase it?

edit: ok found out it's called the E-media bay:

Do you guys have this or have you purchased something else that does the same job? Searching PD02S on Dell (Canada) failed to find the part...

See e-sata or USB enclosures for SATA optical drives here. There's a cheap US$17-delivered USB one on ebay.

Thanks for the link, nando! Just wondering if the E series media module will fit the XPS DVD drive since the drive is a 12.7mm SATA drive (don't know if Latitudes use the same DVD drive, but it won't fit the other 9.5mm one).

I bought the ESata/power combo cable for the optical drive from Newmodeus. It works perfectly.
