Okay, is it possible for RAM to work only with certain programs and situations and whatnot? Also, I'm using Vista 32bit Business. But, I'll go run a memtest when I get a chance.

Anyway, ran the test. The Dell Diagnostic test came up with a memory error with Error Code 0123, Error Code 2000-0123. The last line said a memory integrity test failed, so I'm pretty sure that new stick of RAM is bad? I guess I'll have to contact Transcend since I do have a lifetime warranty I believe. I've only ordered extra RAM twice (once for my desktop) and both times I ran into bad RAM issues haha.

Do you guys think I should submit a RMA request with Newegg or go directly to Transcend?

    Questions:

1)which chipset driver do i use? there are like 4 of them...i only need the mobile one, right?

2)do i need to install the unified security hub? it says urgent.

    3)what does fn+z do?

4)are there any tools to help calibrate the screen? Using the intel x4500.

btw, i installed the new keyboard. everything is great, the backlight is much better, but there is one downside. the pointing stick sucks on this one! it seems much more sensitive and more spastic...less fluidity. like, i cant go around in a circle with it. do you guys think it will get better as i use it? It seems like its slowly improving.

Wow, I do have bad luck. I so called Dell back today just to make sure my exchange request went through. Guess what? It didn't go through!!?!?!

So thank goodness I checked a week later, and talked to a Tech who was able to approve my request and get it expedited. I still wasted a week I guess, however I did manage to find out exactly what happened. The day I called the first tech to arrange the exchange, the Dell Tech Division switched to a new system apparently which is why the tech I first talked to had extreme difficulty even sending through my request. Oh well, at least this time they're going to send me a confirmation email.

I know that Transcend is a no name brand. I was not aware that the memory you got you tested by others. So, yes, you should RMA the memory. However, I did say to test your memory with memTest or Vista Memory test, for you to come to the conclusion you did with the Dell diagnostic tool.

Huh? Check Dell website for your laptop support section. Dell offers you all the drivers you need. If you don't know how to this, please contact Dell support via Chat or Phone, they are there for that.

Well... yes.... obviously. Your laptop has security devices inside such as the contactless and contact smart card reader, TPM chip and finger printer reader if you have it.

Resets the laptop fan. If your laptop fan kicks in for cooling and doesn't seams want to stop or slow down, unlike other laptop where you need to restart your computer, here you can just do Fn+Z.

I can do a circle with mine.... I see no problem with mine. You know you can configure it, as well as the touchpad in the Dell mouse panel (open Mouse panel inside the Control Panel of Windows, it's inside).
