so far, the only noticeable difference i found was drivers.
it now detected my evdo as a 3g modem; when at 7057, it just detected it as a generic usb device...
drivers for audio, video and HDMI are newer than the newest release in dell's website

As soon as I pick up some blank DVD's i'm gonna give windows 7 a try. Would you say it is stable enough to use as an every day OS?

Just FYI, the Creative update installed on my M4400 as well as the future ex's E6400 does not cause a standby or sleep bug.
Not sure about hibernation, as I removed both hibernation files via command prompt.

I have build 7048. I only have two complaints:

    (1) The BT icon is lost after the laptop wakes up from sleep. The BT mouse still works, but the scroll wheel does not move up and down a page anymore. Turning off and on the side wireless switch restores proper operation.

    (2) The screen brightness display does not work reliably. You still get the changes when you raise and lower brightness via keys, but the display brightness indicator is wrong.

Other than that, I am very impressed with Windows 7 build 7048. I have the 64 bit version. I have Intel graphics, and the installation puts in the latest pre-release version of the driver.

Yes, the Intel graphics drivers that Win7 installed are different than the latest Dell ones: they are the pre-release drivers with WDMM support.

Dxdiag; part of Windows, accessed from a Run command.
