Thanks but changing the WLAN card solved the problem. The Dell card doesn't seem to suffer from the same problem as the Intel card.

But now, I've choppy sound. Reinstalling all the drivers in the correct order hasn't solved the problem.

    Any suggestions, anyone?

Edit: I traced the choppiness to the IMSM using the DPC latency checker. Disk activity seems to be causing high latencies, which otherwise is in the green or acceptable zone.

have you installed the latest version from intel directly? it got rid of all the latency problems.

Question, why does the TSST dvd-burner make a noise when you wakeup from sleep? Are there any firmware drivers for it? Just wondering if this is normal.

Also, when i safely remove it, how come it keeps showing up in safely remove hardware each time the laptop wakes up from sleep or when i restart?

have you updated the intel matrix storage manager drivers? all sata drives do not properly maintain their removed status. this presumably includes the dvd drive. this was fixed in the latest revision available from intel direct.

edit -- i feel like a d@mn broken record about the latest matrix manager. everyone should really install it unless they have some odd reason not to, a quick look at the changelog is all that should be needed to agree.

This is just the device itself behavior (that is why I kept my Panasonic one when my laptop was replaced). However, I don't know about the firmware question. This is something to ask at the TSST... I don't think Dell can do anything, especially that you got it refurb. But you can always try, never hurts.

I had about the same on my NVS 160M. Maybe just a little bit lower.

Same here. (NOTE: I use a dock)

EDIT -- This is measured with HWmonitor, which gives the same temperature as GPU-Z. In my experience Everest gives different temperatures (GPU lower and CPU higher than HWmonitor).

Yes. You're right about posting all the info.
The problem seems to have disappeared overnight. Restarts I made yesterday didn't help but today the CPU usage stays normal. I have installed all the latest drivers from DELL site.
