    Hi guys,

After further testing of my new E6400, I am pretty convinced it is flawless except for a defective pixel. Does anyone know how to tell whether it's dead or stuck? It shows black and red properly, but stays black on green and blue images, and red on white images. I am guessing the green and blue sub-pixels are busted but I'm not sure whether they're stuck or dead.

Hey guys I have a question and a little problem that I could use some help with.

#1 What does Fn F4 do? What about Fn F5?

Problem: When I click Fn F1 to send the computer into sleep mode it either A: goes into an unresponsive black screen and I have to use the power button to restart it, or B: just locks and goes to the log in screen. I think the answer to this problem has to do with my previous question, but I'm not sure.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Fn + F1 > Sleep computer
    Fn + F2 > Disable/Enable recharge
Fn + F3 > Show battery status (opens Dell Control Point)
Fn + F4 > Turn on/off NumLock (letter keys that also have numbers on them will be used as number instead of letters)
Fn + F5 > Turn on/off Scroll Lock. I have no idea why keyboard today still have it, but I guess no one wants to remove it, in the case some application actually does use it.
    Fn + F6 > Nothing
Fn + F7 > Open Dell Control Point panel
    Fn + F8 > Change display output
    Fn + F9 > Nothing
Fn + F10 > Screen Lock (no use.. it's from the days before you have monitor and the screen was a dot matrix printer. See scroll Lock)
    Fn + F11 > PrintScreen
Fn + F12 > Pause (see scroll Lock)

    Fn + D > Close the screen
    Fn + Z > Reset Fan sensor.

Your sleep problem, make me think you use Windows XP.

    Hello,
I have just reinstalled Windows XP cd that came with my E4600, I am now looking at the resource cd drivers page.
and for the items with a check mark next to them, labeled "A hardware scan has detected the presence of this device"
Does this mean that the drivers are already installed? or does this indicate the drivers that I need to install?

    Thank you

nope, nnot installed. those are the ones you need to install...
once you install them, check at device manager the ones that aren't detected and download it from dell's site

Thanks again! I installed Control Point System manager, the volume buttons now work, however the audio bar graphic does not popup on the screen when adjusting the audio, is there a way I can get that back?

    Thanks

In the System and Devices Manager there is an option to turn on volume notifications (the volume bar popup) and other notifications.
