Good news, took me all of 5 minutes to do that swap. It's a straight swap worked like a charm.

The keyboard indeed seems to be legitimate Dell as I have the other E6510 with me (with backlit keyboard from Dell) and that is indistinguishable from this.

Absolutely the best $18 I spent in the last week.

Just be gentle while pulling out the keyboard.

Follow this video and you should be fine: YouTube - Replacing Dell Latitude E6500 Keyboard with commentaries

The bad news is, this laptop has the same issue!!! The replacement E6410 I had, did not, but this one does. Unbelievable! A brand new E6510 sent in as a replacement for a a buggy E6510 has the same exact issue!

And before you blame the usual suspects, let me mention, I start the laptop, first boot. Open IE, download chrome, open youtube, play video fullscreen and bam. The same issue.

Step 2: Go to Nvidia website, download latest driver, (260.99) and still the same screen flickering.

I'm wondering if my house is haunted or something.
I have decided I'm giving up and keeping this laptop as I have other MUCH more important things to do.

Thanks for sharing your experience powerslave and congrats on the keyboard! Sorry to hear that you are still having the original issue.

Did you try other browsers like firefox, opera etc. just for testing?

No problem! I don't think that issue merits any more time from me. :) Maybe over the weekend. I'm just accepting this laptop as is. Other than that niggle it is a perfect laptop.

But about the keyboard, it is a straight swap, be careful while removing that plastic strip at the top though, it's pretty flimsy.

On the return FEDEX Ground PRP Label that Dell has provided, there's a From section which contains a "RA#" field. Does anyone know what that is?

    Thank you.

Could be Return Authorization Number. Such a number is issued in advance by the recipient to identify and track an authorized return once it arrives.

I guessed as much, but I haven't received any return Authorization number.

I guess I'll have to call them up and check before I mail in the goods.

Warning in Event Viewer log messages

Fellows, I just looked at the "Event viewer" -> "Windows Logs" -> "system" and noticed that I am getting the following warning

"The speed of processor 1 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 11 seconds since the last report."

Any ideas what this is? Could a fellow owner please check his/her machine's event viewer and look if this is apprearing there.

    Thanks!

Taking a wild guess here, but sounds like Power Saver or Balanced power management profiles are doing their job.
