I got an email from tech support in Florida confirming the exchange, but no emails that the replacement shipped the same day. If you have an account, log in, and take a look at the service tag service history. It should show something there.
Dell support is rather disjointed, you get transferred all over the world. They try to put a hometown spin on it by giving American names to some of them. I joked with one of them and asked if he was born with that name...

Odd, it doesn't show up under my service tag. I was able to find it by the Service Request #. Thanks for the tip, I completely missed that link.

I am still working on a review of the panel. I don't want to publish all of the details until I am sure that I got everything right.

Based on the measurements I am seeing and comparing them with the review of the 8760W that Anandtech did, the IPS panel in the M6600 is better than the Dreamcolor display in every measurement except absolute brightness.

    Brightness - HP 308, Dell 287
    Black Point - HP .46, Dell .41
    Delta E - HP 1.29, Dell 0.7
Gamut (Adobe RGB) - HP 97.7, Dell ~110+%

Here is the the Gamut I am seeing currently. Red is the M6600 and Purple is AdobeRGB:

This is all still preliminary. Please do not take this as absolute until measurements are taken with more than one calibration system. Also remember that Anantech's measurements could also be off.

What I can say with certainty is that I believe the panels are certainly comparable to each other.

I can definitely say with certainty that the IPS panel in the M6600 is better than the RGBLED TN panel in the M6500.

I just have to make sure I am getting all of the performance out of it before I start posting more.

I had in my mind that to upgrade my M6600 from my Dell 8GB (2*4GB) 1600 Mhz Dual Channel RAM to 16GB I would have to install 16GB of another make. I read about Dual Channel and it says that you have to have matching pairs. Does that mean I can add another 8GB of equivalent cheaper memory to my existing Dell pair and still get reasonably equivalent performance?

Whatever the CAS is on the Dell memory it will be possibly be different than the Corsair. However it "should" all run at a common speed without any issue.

When I originally got my refurb, my laptop had a bunch of bsod and even crashed while shutting down, or when installing windows updates. After a few reinstalls, I finally decided to install windows with optimus off. Absolutely zero problems since. So for those with the weird issues, why don't you try installing windows without optimus. Unless you absolutely NEED it.

I was escalated way up the food chain troubleshooting Optimus on an E6520. Here is how to not mess up your machine.

    Install Windows

    Install chipset drivers - Reboot

Install Intel video drivers - Reboot

    Install Nvidia drivers - Reboot

    Install everything else.

I think I have screwed up!!! I have an nvidia 4000 gpu. I believe this would show up when I ran HWinfo64 whe I first recieved the computer. I have upgraded the bios and now I show my graphics card as an Intel HD Graphics 3000 (Sandy Bridge GT2). I don't recall installing an intel driver but I have installed an nvidia update from the dell support website. In the bios it shows optimus enabled but it also shows the intel video card with 64 mb of memory as the video card.

Can any body give me an idea of what I have done and is there a way to fix it? I can't tell any difference in the way the computer is running.

I think you are ok, Mine shows the same thing. My 4000M is indeed working, you can confirm this by running a test in Furmark. With optimus enabled it should automatically run the application on the Nvidia GPU.

But as Bokeh points out in the post before yours, make sure to install the drivers in the correct order. With Optimus you must install the Intel drivers prior to the Nvidia. On the dell driver downloads for your machine there will be a re-image guide listed somewhere in the files. Pay special attention to the order that things have to get installed.
