I have my HDDs in this exact config, but they were so configured at the factory so I actually am not sure about the strip size. However, basing on my experience with desktop RAID I configure myself, the best strip size for a RAID 0 serving long video files (like mine) the recommended size is 128k.

Good News, the card is working. With photoshop open the optimus test tool shows the 4000 "on" and HWinfo64 also shows it. So maybe I haven't screwed up too bad.

Why do I have two gpu's now? Is this correct or should I change something? if so, what? Is the quadro 4000 only used by certain programs?

Two GPU's is correct. If you want to learn more Google Nvidia Optimus or read Nvidia Optimus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia or Optimus Technology

The Quadro is only turned on when you are running software that needs the extra GPU horsepower. You can force specific programs to use a specific GPU from the Nvidia Control Panel application,

Thank you for your answers. On the storage disks I will gonna keep videos from my camcorder. So I will gonna choose strip size 128k if there will be any choice. I will not gonna bother about Advanced Format option than.

My M6600 refurb arrived. It was shipped "upside down" in a carboard tray, secured & protected by a strong plastic film. There was a foam sheet protecting the screen from the keyboard. It appeared to be very well packed and no nasty peanuts to deal with.

Having the SAME problem like yours. I got an XPS 17 L702x and it came with the very grainy Chi Mei screen, kind of okay at first but there was some screen defect (a lint or dirt trapped within) and I called in for a replacement and they sent me an LG (LP173WF1) which is fine with me because this screen is less grainy. Everything worked fine and then the flickering begins effortlessly. This happens mostly when used with battery-powered. When it is plugged in it flickers but not as much and usually happens in the 3-4 lowest brightness setting.

I called Dell about the situation and they sent me another replacement screen. To my dismay I got the same exact screen and thinking maybe this one would fix it -- nope, same old situation and flickering right off the back. This is definitely a hardware conflict on Dell's part and not the screen. I'm not sure what it is; whether it be the video driver or the BIOS. I will not go for number three because we all know how it's going to turn out.

Very frustrated XPS (and first Dell) owner.

The M6600 we have right now with the LG panel had the flickering on the low backlight, but updating to the latest bios stopped it.
