morning chaps, just another quick piece of useful information for people.

I've been struggling to find a nice, professional looking, sturdy bag/case for the M6600. Ordered a couple of Targus ones but sent them both back due to them having little protection, being quite flimsy and being unessessarily big even when compared to the massive M6600 size....

Anyway as I briefly owned a Lenovo W520 before the M6600, the one thing i was very impressed with was their carry case. It is very sturdy, offers excellent protection and looks the part - however the W520 is 15" and Lenovo have stopped doing 17" laptops :(

However a quick check and they are still selling their 17" carry cases. It is identical to the 15" version just bigger.

Anyway its cheap (£40 - which is AMAZING value because it is outstanding quality) and the M6600 fits it like a glove. If it didn't have "Thinkpad" written on the case Dell could sell it as their own specially made for the M6600.

If you are looking for a good case - look no further:

chaps - anyone know if the m-SATA port on the M6600 works at SATA2 or SATA3?

I realise that there have been a couple of SATA2 answers in the past but I'm wondering/hoping that is a result of the m-sata disks that have shipped in the past being SATA2 disks and so the port never showed up as a SATA3 port.

With the new SATA3 m-sata disks that are apparently now shipping I'm considering getting one - but I only want it if it is SATA3...

Anyone bought a M6600 with it in the past couple of weeks?

The mSATA port on the M6600 is and will remain SATA-II since only ports 0 and 1 [the main and secondary 2.5" drive ports in the M6600] are SATA-III. This is a QM67 chipset limitation.

    Not a chance. It's SATA-2.

That said, a SATA-2 SSD will probably still run circles around a traditional SATA-3 HDD in random I/O performance.

I did not see anything about that here, but I want to be cautious. Is the bios A07 problem free? I use A06, I havent got any real problems (my lg display does have flickering at very low brightness, but I dont use it like that) but I do think about upgrading to A07. Thx!

I have not had any problems with A07 and have had it installed for quite a while now.

Doing some research on the costs/benefit for Kingston Hyper-X PnP 1600Mhz CL9.

My tested platform is i7-2860QM with 2x4GB Dual channel Samsung DDR-3 1333Mhz from Dell as shown below.

Could anyone with 1600mhz or similar DDR3 run the assessment tool and post the results. :)

Performance shown is definately better on a i7 with 1333mhz compared to a i5 with 1866mhz. As shown below with the tested i5 Acer even with Kingston PnP 1866Mhz.

    N-Trig Drivers. v6.177 from n-trig.com ?

Last Jan 2012 I downloaded/installed v6.85.00 from the same website.

The driver on n-trig website now shows 6.177 is dated Dec 23 2011. Which I find odd. I though only Dell's website driver dates are all wrong or not in-sync with the real World.

Anyone tested this driver yet ?
