    Correct. This is one area where the speed of the 2.5" drives has really pulled ahead. They used to be very close performance wise.

    Hey, thanks !

    I have just wrote the following to Corsair - looks like a good deal.
    ==========
    CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/CORSAIR-Ven...ltDomain_0&hash=item1c248242a3#ht_2032wt_1396

    1. Is the above CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10 compatible with:
    Dell Precision m6600 Mobile Workstation (purchased Jan 12 2012) - no overclocking
    - Win7 (x64) Build 7601 with SP1
    - Processor Intel Core i7-2860QM (Microcode Update Revision 23) (CPU S-Spec SR02X)
    - Platform Socket G2 (rPGA988B)
    - Chipset QM67 (Cougar Point) [ B3 ]
    - Dell BIOS A07 Nov-18-2011 (EFI BIOS Capable)
    - RAM Samung M471B5273CH0-CH9 8GB (4GB x 2) 1333mhz Module M471B5273CH0-CH9 9-9-9-24 1.50v
    - Nvidia Quadro 4000m 2GB GDDR5
    - 1x 256GB SATA3 SSD
    - 1x 500GB 7200 RPM HDD

    2. Is there a single stick 8GB of 1600mhz or 1866mhz? Can't seem to locate it online at Corsair.

    3. Without overclocking can the CMSX8GX3M2A1866C10 perform 1866mhz natively? As it says the SPD speed in 1333Mhz and tested speed is 1866Mhz.

    4. Is the Vengeance lable on the RAM a heat-sink or just a sitcker lable? Will this cause heat problems when using for long hours of processing ?

    ======end======

    Only found 4GB module per stick at Corsair.com. Will see how Corsair respond. Couldn't find the CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10 module kit at Corsair's website.

    I will check on Samsung, since they have a local factory here in Malaysia and Dell is using it on m6600.

    Regardless of the CPU installed, the M6600's QM67 chipset will peak at 1600MHz so anything above PC3-12800 is a waste. Additionlly, the CAS latency should be the focus.

    1333MHz CL7 memory is actually more snappy than 1600MHz CL11 memory. Personally, I would not buy any memory above CL9. G.Skill has some nicely priced 4G 1600MHz sticks that are CL9.

    By the way, remember that the M6600 will handle up to 32G of 1333MHz memory or 16G of 1600MHz memory so don't attempt 32G of 1600MHz.

    I have 4 sticks of these and the system works great - very fast and stable: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSQ

    I won't buy it so soon. I think when ivy bridge launches by April-May for manufacturers. The price will drop when they ramp-up the production of new ivy bridge laptops.

    There are also alot of fake RAM's around the market.

    Another problem is shipping to Malaysia. Either ebay or crucial.com store supports. For ebay, it's worrying the RAMs are fake e.g. not from G-skill or Corsair. As anyone can setup an ebay store.

    So better off I get a 2x8GB 1333mhz with lower CL ?

    Scott RC-TEK, what tool you use to generate those? I will try and post the results on my current Samsung 4GB 1333Mhz 9-9-9-24 (orginal from Dell).

    If you can get some CL7 PC3-10600, go for it. Otherwise, CL9 PC3-12800 is acceptable.

    I use HWiNFO64 for the detailed hardware data. You already know how I got the WinSAT data. ;)

    My stats.

    Scott RC-Tek, seems the "Module Manufacturing Date" shown on your G-Skill is dated 2000! Before the DDR3 was invented.
