While swapping out hardware does not void the warranty, Dell may request that you restore the machine to the factory hardware configuration when troubleshooting a hardware issue. Possibly depends on the particular issue and the tech. Just something to keep in mind.

exactly my concern~~ I guess I buy one back if they request to. Since keep a CPU on the shelf is pretty silly.

the palm rest connector is PITA btw. Worst connector design I ever met ...

Edit: One more question: Is it possible the replace the track point thingy with thinkpad ones? I have a t61 nub but the square is different size.

Edit2 : Drive show up as caution in CCD info. where reallocated sector is 15, should I ask for a replacement?

Quick question, has anybody used this ram with their M6600? It's on sale this weekend at newegg for $69.99 after a coupon. I'm thinking about picking up 32GB. It seems like the only way to get CAS9 1600Mhz is the much more expensive Kingston HyperX.

Yes, the G.Skill will work great in the M6600. I have been using (4) of the 4GB sticks for almost a year now with no issues. I just recently upgraded to some 8GB sticks and will be selling the 4x4GB in the next day or (for less than I hoped due to market pricing on these!).

    Scott-

PS: Why do you need 32GB?? I do a lot and have never used more than 10~12GB so I am happy with the 16GB.

    1. It's pretty cheap to get 32GB these days, so why not? :p

    2. Windows will use leftover memory as a disk cache so there's possibly a benefit to going overkill with it.

if you look at my previous post i had nothing but trouble with gskill, currently RMAing, there may be a chance the memory is bad but may be incompatible too, installed kingston yesterday and no bsod so far but too soon to tell, kingston is also the stock memory that came with my m6600. good thing with newegg you have 30 days

Anyone know where I can buy the M6600 recovery discs on the Dell website? I forgot to order them when I placed my order and I'm afraid to try and call to add them since knowing Dell they might make me cancel the order and reorder the whole system.

I know a while back upgrading to an IPS wasn't feasible/cost effective...

    Has anything changed?

what are some decent 1080p LCDs that will work?

So I just tested and the DMC port is just another mPCI-E slot(dell wireless work in that slot). but it have the same labeling as the msata and wifi slot 15GFA where WWAN port is labeled 15GAA. So in reality they(3 of them) are msata/m-pci-e compatible slots?

Cant say I am not impressed but I don't know what can I do to use up all those slots (since they are half sized).
