Do anyone have the tendency to try plug USB into the displayport...? keep doing that these few days.

Same here, but I use an external drive and USB dongle for my mouse and I blocked the right ports with these. At least until I need to use them, solves the display port USB incidents from happening.

Also I have a question regarding RAM. I am looking at the 16gb kits and there seem to be two good ones (as far as what people have told me). The vengeance and Kingston. Both are rated at 1600mhz, yet the Kingston is cl9 versus cl10 for the vengeance. So I am wondering which ram will give me the most bang for my money? I am looking to limit my upgrade budget and other than the ram I am waiting for a samsung ssd sale (when it occurs again for the 256gb) and probably either the western digital black 750gb or seagate momentous xt 750gb as the prices are similar. I am hoping that I can move these parts into the next generation of precision (if) and when mine becomes beyond repair and needs to be replaced (hopefully within warranty period).

B&H has the Samsung 830 256GB on sale for $182 w/ free shipping. This is the best price I have seen.

Go here: Samsung 256GB 830 Series Internal 2.5" Solid MZ-7PC256B/WW

C9 vs C10 are the same in real world use. With that said, C9 is better [on paper] so get that one if the pricing is similar.

The pricing for the ram has a difference of $50-60... So I guess the vengeance ram should be no problem right?

Works great in my M6600. I put the two 8GB modules in slots C and D under the keyboard so the easier to get to A and B slots are open and free for future use if needed.

Well, that likely address the interrogation i had about the M6700 as to whether you had to populate certain RAM sockets first in order for the laptop to boot. My G73 is like that (found that out the hard way). I was planning to do the same thing as you for a future easy upgrade.
