Hrm but what is the pricing? And that looks like a standard voltage processor so looks like the same problem with 2-3 hours max battery. Why the V130/V13/L13 was so great was the ability to get such a slim and light business notebook for sub 400 dollars. Going up to 700-800, you are getting into a whole another tier of notebooks.

Why 2-3 hours? Several other notebooks on the market with the same CPU (i5-2410m), similar declared battery capacity (around 65WH) and even with larger displays showed 5+ hours in the tests (wifi browsing).

Surprisingly, the new vostros v131 are already available in Poland in e-shops e.g. here. The battery (6cell) sticks out from the bottom. It has an easy acces to RAM and HDD, the battery is removable. The prices are very competitive. i5 + 3g modem costs 3300 PLN, which at the current exchange rate (1USD=2,85PLN) gives ~ 1 150 USD. And you have to take into account that dell notebooks are circa 1/3 dearer here than in the states.

I don't think they will that cheap in the US, the ULV Arrandale V130 started at like 700-800 in the US, so I assume the V131 would start around the same price.

Wow. Nice. Even with poor battery, I'd still be interested, because of its near-silent cooling system. If only it had USB 3.0. *sigh* I guess there was no space for it. Too bad Ivy Bridge has been postponed. And not for any technical reason either, apparently, just to give vendors more time to sell their Sandy Bridge notebooks. :(

the USB 3.0 should be there, too. at least if we trust the configs already available at various e-shops. quite a crappy product deployment strategy by Dell though. anyway I am buying one as soon as we get the full specs and some 'hands-on' reviews :)

Remember that ULV processor are way dearer than standard-voltage ones.

I think the battery life should be fine. HP 4330s with similar specs and 47wh battery lasts 4-4,5 hours surfing on the internet. V131 has a 65Wh battery, so it should amount up to 6 hours. And it has 2 USB 3.0 ports.

Really? I visited several, and they all say "3x USB 2.0." Whoah, no, wait, I've just found one that says "2x USB 3.0."

The V130 also had an option for an SSD. Let's hope it'll still be there for the V131. I really liked the V130 and could have lived with the poor battery life, but I did mind the outdated processor and wished for a backlit keyboard. Now it seems this new model will have it all!

Only, when? It's really time for me to buy a new laptop.
