Is this only for RAID SSD? or for all SSD?

Also, if I change to ACHI in the bios, do I have to reinstall windows and everything?

Or does IRRT supports trim for non-RAID SSD?

    Hi aka.Flux,

If you switch to ACHI mode Trim will work, and you get all the advantages of ACHI mode.
You do not have to reinstall Windows or anything if you don’t want to.

It’s just if you do a clean install of your system it’s a good idea to switch to ACHI mode before hand otherwise you would have to tweak the registry.

Let’s say you received your M6500 and you tuck the factory drive out and installed you new OCZ 250GB SSD drive, then did a clean install of Windows 7 while the system BIOS was in IRRT mode (Dell Default) and later tried to change to ACHI mode the System would give you BSOD.

You would have to do one of two things, the easiest thing to do is install the factory drive and then go into the BIOS and change to ACHI mode.

Otherwise you would have to modify the registry according to Microsoft kb922976

And if you did a clean install on your factory drive follow the link to MiB's post.

Refer to my post# 2356 and click the link for registry tweek -> How to switch from IRRT to ACHI Mode,
" MiB " did an Excellent job on that post...

I am not sure but I am researching if we can download the factory Image of your system that would be sweet.

    I hope this helps,
