Have you tried to uninstall the touchpad software altogether to see if the same problem occurs without it? If it does, then i can't think of another reason than it being a hardware issue. The best of luck to you!:)

Well that might be true but its really hard to get too worked up over it.
This time around I knew what to expect and factored the extra time in.
The bottom like is I have had great experience with the Precision series and am counting the M6500 will continue this tradition.
    BTW
I rebuilt my old Precision M70 that is now running sweet on win 7 so I am up and working, what a work horse!

    Pablo,

I had the same issues with the pad. I had to disable everything other than simple cursor movement and it works fine. When I disabled multi-finger, it worked okay until reboot. Once I disabled everything else, it always works okay. I think its a driver issue.

I'm trying to erase my Intel X25 using HDDErase 3.3 but I can't get it to work. It does not seem to recognize any drives. Most say to set BIOS to IDE legacy, but I don't think we have that as an option. I tried ATA but no joy.

Nope. I'm trying now the last synaptics driver to see if it would solve the problem. Will report if it works.

    Regards,

I see you have the W700.

I have to purchase another mobile workstation for my company.

I'm seriously loving the M6500. Obviously Lenovo is about to release the W701 mobile workstation which is somewhat like the the W700 but with core i7, usb and 95% gamut screen.

Having had the W700 how does the M6500 compare in looks and feel. I get the impression that the W700 looks plasticly compared?

The first Windows Experience Index measurement after installing that driver hang somewhere at 70-80%. Had to power off the machine. After the hard reboot the next measurement worked, but graphics index went down from 7.2 to 6.0
Ran it another time now I am back at 7.2. Strange...

Speaking of WEI. I only get a consistent 5.9 score with 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM.
It's funny because my studio xps 1645 with the same set up scored 7.4!
Should i be concerned that there is something wrong with the RAM i got from dell?
