First thing I do with any Dell is do a clean install. Not including any standard issue software or driver we all know are not stable.

The M6500 the E6410 and the M4500 right out of the box has stupid issues with either sysprep or driver/software bugs. i don't really understand how such a major company could have such issues with their images out of the box.

Secondly another thing that really pissed me off is on the E6410/6510/M4500 how they relocated the free fall sensor to the motherboard and require software for it. When you prep your own image with sysprep their stupid free fall sensor detection software pops up when sysprep runs prompting to reboot in the middle of driver detection and hangs up sysprep if you dont exit out quick enough.

Lesson being re-build your system with the Dell Windows7 disk and install only what drivers you absolutely need.

My M6500 came with the absolute minimum installed - WinXP without even Cyberlink PowerDVD and it worked like a charm except for the annoying crackling sound that was due to the sound driver, which I uninstalled and then it worked fine with the standard Windows driver. I did a fresh Windows 7 install nevertheless and no crashes so far. The only minor "problem" I have left is the screen having a yellow tint whenever sunlight shines on its left corner (and yes, I have switched off all the environment sensors on the screen so it is annoying but at least still functional).

    Hi Everybody.

Last saturday, finally arrived my M6500 after 40 days of have had bought it.

The thing is that in these 3 days I had noticed akwards or stranges behaivor of my new laptop.
1.- One blue screen, unfortunatly don´t remember what was the problem.
2.- Yesterday I was playing Live For Speed and after 2 hours my Frames Per Second drop to 8. This last 1 minute. In this game I can play with full settings of video at 200-215FPS but I limited to 100FPS.
3.- When I run Sisoftware sandra 2010 Show me this Warning 242.- "Dynamic Overclocking/Turbo engaged. Performance will not be consistent!

And Finally, I´m interested in made other some benchmarks, wich other programs do I have to install.

    Thanks in advance.

use this as a gadget to see if turbo is engaged...it's intel gadget:
    http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18353/eng/TurboBoostSetup.exe

I'm using a 'dell install' and don't have problems, but I scour the registry, uninstall things and whatnot so it's hard to tell what's causing that.
