I'm a real newbie... this is my first time ordering online (except for books)
So i really need help in getting around the site to get the best price :p
How to get to this smart value deal?
I'm using this link to configure my lappy, is it the same link to get the smart value deal?
    http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=bqdwj2j&cs=04&dgvcode=ss&c=US&l=EN
And for the $50 off, how do we get that?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hey hlcc,

I think you forgot to add the webcam because I got 648 before adding the webcam (which adds another $30). I also checked out the Smart Value and I am still getting priced the same price at 742 after tax since tax was about $50. On the note of Fallout 3, I have been an avid fan of the whole series and Black Isle has been great about keeping system requirements extremely low for such a huge game. I am hoping Bestheda does the same. While the upgrade to the 8600 does sound interesting, I think it may be way out of my price range once everything is included. Any options of upgrading later if necessary? I would hate the GPU to not be able to handle the only game I run.

Hey 1stStrike, you bought some 667Mhz Ram from Newegg. Is this compatible with the Vostro 1500? I am thinking about buying these (they might be the same ones u picked up):

    a few questions...

When ordering, what should I put in for the "business name" category?

Does the Vostro 1400 have two headphone ports (or just one) and a mic port in the front?

Can 2GB of my own ram be easily installed, or do I have to take off the keyboard?

    Thanks!

Has anyone been able to upgrade to Windows Vista Premium on the Vostro 1400 by asking a CSR or something?

It only has Windows Vista Basic as an option.

If i recall correctly, the 1400 has both ram slots on the bottom of the unit. The 1500 has one on the bottom and one under the keyboard.

    1. Your full name.

    2. Yes, two headphone, one mic

    3. On the 1400 you do not need to take off the keyboard. On the 1500 and 1700 you do.

    I'm looking at this config:
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows XP Home Edition, SP2
    15.4 in UltraSharp™ Wide Scrn SXGA+LCD Display w/TrueLife™
1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
    120G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    8X CD/DVD Burner w/ double-layer DVD+R write capability
    128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Mini Card
    No Webcam Option
    High Definition Audio 2.0
728USD which is a damn good deal (nearly 50% more here!), but since I'm based in Europe, I would need international warranty. Does anybody know if that is available as an option?
