M4400 advantages: The display is LED backlit --> better colors, brighter and a lot more power efficient! The FX 770M graficcard a lot faster (the FireGL V5700 is actually slower than the FX 570M the precessor of the FX 770M!!)

DDR3 RAM can also be seen as a disadvantage, as it costs a lot more than DDR2 RAM making it harder to upgrade.

The M4400 comes with Vista 64 bit as well - you just have to ask...

minibob...I'm using my bluetooth mouse right now...all day every day...that's really odd....I used bluetooth on another machine in early 2007 with Vista Ult 64...used 32bit driver I think at that time.

Doesn't DDR3 use a few more cpu cycles and so any net speed benefit is pretty much negligle?

That's really good to hear, El. I will order that bluetooth minicard for my m4400 when I get the chance. Probably in a few months.

As for DDR3, it's new tech now so, yes, it's more expensive but it will eventually be the norm. Either way, I agree with I-RAM. Right now you are probably better off with DDR2. Dollar for dollar, you can get more ram.
I suspect the new top of the line models coming out in 2009 will all be DDR3.

I don't think the difference in speed will be very noticeable to the average person. Oh, I consider myself pretty average. ;)

got a weird response from dell regarding vista 64 and the fingerprint readers.

then i argued that both of the fingerprint readers are compatible with vista x64 from dell malaysia i got the response:

    whats up with that???

btw this is not dell sales, this is DTS regarding my replacement notebook, which is brand new, not refurbished.
