Thomas: thanks for taking your time to describe your "RGBLED - experiences" :) - i am sorry to hear you can't seem to install some fonts - sounds very wierd as it should be kind of straght forward hehe.. - i would try maybe a different font-managements application or if you just have a few fonts, copy them into the windows/fonts folder as a temp solution.

LPTP: Great to hear you got the Huey too ! - it's a fantastic piece of hardware and really makes a different. Be sure to also adjust your color gamma and color temperature, with the included software :) (i have mine running @ D50 temp and 2.40 gamma, which gives some quite natural colors!)

...I should be getting my M4400 tommorow!

@Thomas N: Sorry to hear about your problems with the M4400. I will say that the font issue is most likely a software problem and not a hardware problem IMO. In other words, I seriously doubt that the font issue has anything to do with the M4400 laptop, but rather with the operating system install. I am a software developer by trade so that conclusion is drawn from my professional experience.

That said, I hope you can get it fixed. I will be ordering an M4400 w/ RGBLED in the very near future, and all of the comments posted on this board have been tremendously helpful with my decision making process.

Still waiting on Dell to release new small business coupons...

Thomas N- Besides color is there a difference between the 2CCFL and the RGBLED as far as viewing angles are concerned? This site could use a good review of the M4400. Any chance your willing to show pictures of the screen at different angles? TIA and congrats on the new Dell!

Font issues: I use Main Type from ###.high-logic.com, works well on several machines, works well on the 4400 other than the few fonts that will not install. I tried all the usual methods of getting the fonts to install, with no joy. I am going to try to install them on a different machine before I call Dell.

Display Identification: The only way i know of to see the panel Mfg info is through, device manager -> monitor -> properties -> details, then I see the same number on this 4400 w/rgb -vs- the 4400 w/2ccfl.

So if there is another way to get the info please share that method.

I will see if I can do some photos from angles, it is pretty much typical laptop display ugliness in that regard though, nothing to brag about in the viewing angles department. IMO.

I will see if video will show the angle shift.

    Happy T-Day everybody.

@Thomas N: in regard to more than 3.5GB RAM... I've got 4GB installed (maybe I'll go to 8GB later when the money comes pouring in :D ). I set up my machine with WinXP64 and I've had no trouble at all... except for the occasional program that doesn't run on 64bit (ZoneAlarm free, the theme patchers I've tried, Font Thing, etc.)

Question: anyone know how to get the fingerprint reader to work with Firefox passwords? I assume there's a way to make the passvault utilize the reader.

ehm the hardware-id is not the same as the 2CCFL....the only 2CCFL we've seen so far is the samsung screen with id SEC-5443....you have an LG screen, why do you think they are the same id?

Yeah it's the same numbers on the packing list maybe but the hardware-id would've been different be, part number and hardware-id is not the same thing.
The hardware-id of your current screen doesn't show up anywhere on your order form either, it's really hard, if possible at all, to be sure what you're getting from your packing list....it won't say which brand HDD you'll be getting either for instance.
