Nope...seems like it'll last. It's only fingers/oils that show pretty fast, especially for a non-glossy surface...it just smudges fast but its just as easily wiped off. But indeed it has kinda the same "soft" feel as thinkpads

The truelife/glossy screen is a RGB-LED screen! There is no glossy CCFL2 screen! Could you post a pic of the screen nevertheless? :)

    weird stuff indeed...my hardware-id is SEC-5443 and is a 2CCFL matte screen
is it even possible for a different screen, with even a different technique to have the same hardware id?

hmm.. this is wierd - my screen has a CCFL2 svreen Hardware ID - but is glossy.. how can i be sure it's a RGBLED display? - it's quite a lot extra i've paid for that paticulair screen..

    pictures (taken from mobile):

The screen compared with my two samsung syncmater 172x screens.
Brightness on the M4400 is @ 50 % (notice the M4400 screen is not calibrated! - my 172x's are.)

    hardware ID..

Glossy screen...(the blue-thingy, is the reflection hehe)

I must know if this is a RGBLED or not.. else it's going back!

I'm quite puzzled to be honest. Anybody any ideas on this??
Maybe try to get a higher level tech-support to check for the proper hardware-id.

Did anyone else receive this screen yet?

The only RGB-LED screen for now is a truelife/glossy screen. The only glossy/truelife screen is the RGB-LED screen.

You definately got the RGB-LED screen, but it's glossy :D

then why is the hardware id the same as the CCFL screen?
and my order stated:"Display : 15.4in Widescreen WUXGA (1920X1200) Antiglare with RGB LED"... wierd.

The hardware id doesn't stand for a ccfl screen. Even a 17" LCD screen for the XPS 1730 had the same hardware id. The hardware id just gives you the manufacturer, not the type of backlight or screen you get.

The antiglare thing is really strange. I remember that there actually were 2 different RGB-LED screens. Perhaps the antiglare display is not available for now and they try to satisfy you with a glossy screen.
I think you need to call Dell to clarify this. The screen can be exchanged within minutes by a tech.
