oh man. im seriously pissed off now. I just noticed the finish on my M4400 is starting to peel off. at the front of the notebook, where the latch release button is, the finish is coming off at the angular lines that run horizontally across. i can see the magnesium underneath. ARGH!

this notebook is only a month and a half old!

Ah, so it's true colors are revealed.

Let it grow, my son. The rippleback monster cares not to be dressed in contemporary fashion known as "paint".

Yup has been said a few times before mrtoshko88,but nevermind, thanks for your thought:)

I agree, the M4400 has very small feet, and any sort of soft surface [even table cloth] is enough to restrict cooling normally.

I use a coolslice and can vouch for its effectiveness on any surface......it does raise the temps a couple of degree's when playing a game [max GPU and CPU load] and thus is not quite as good as having the notebook jacked up in the air,but who can be bothered doing that....not me anyway.....with the coolslice, you can sit it on anything and it will not suffocate, even at the highest loads.

Mine too,not peeling yet,but has worn the paint away for sure....thats gonna look ugly in six months.

My M65 was rolled bowled and ***holed for 18 months....into a bag,out of a bag every day,and the only thing worn on it were the stickers on the bottom and a bit of burnishing on the corners, the M65 seemed to have some sort of epoxy coating or thick powder coat finish as opposed to the M4400 flick of black paint which looking at it now, doesn't seem very durable, especially where there's a sharp edge.

Oh man i'm going to be annoyed by that :(....there's so many ways to apply a durable layer of paint, no excuse for doing a crappy job there

yea the latitude D410 that my company supplied to me was also extremely rugged. the only thing that wore off was the stickers at the bottom. i assumed this new series would be equally good :(

    Hi Gordon

Con't know what you mean exactly by which display version

I've got a Pantone Huey Pro calibrator, inexpensive tool and gives great results...i'm not using the laptop monitor for reference anyway but still the colors need to be as close as possible.
