I've only heard of one, and that was when a tech came and replaced the display. In any case it wasn't RGBLED - RGBLED isn't offered for the Latitude.

But I've been known to be wrong - just ask my wife! :D

Now I was able to show my sales rep from Dell the pictures janik_dk has posted. He told me that the one on the pictures must be another display type than the one in his showroom. So it really could be that there are two types of RBG-LED-screens circulating; so I took the risk to get a glossy display and placed an order. The reference-number in my order reference is 230-10195 again with Truelife with RGB LED in the description:mad:. Seems that I'll also get a glossy one to Christmas. Well, I will test it and if it doesn't convince me over holidays it will go back for a replacement.
My conclusion: In USA, Dell assembles matte RGB-LED displays, in Europe (at least Germany and Denmark), Dell assembles glossy screens and once again we are kidded:mad:.

Great to hear you got your M4400 Gordon :)

I got some sort of responds from Dell about my black (latitude) LCD lid.. they says it can't be replaced with a black.. -but as a compensation Dell gives me 85 USD back - fine with me.

I just called DELL, they wouldn't budge on anything other than what was shown online for a 4400, other give me 64 bit Vista Business for the same price as 32 bit Vista Business.

    hi,

i got a recall from dell today, after mailing them.
    1. the glossy/matte display: they apparently had a wrong description in theyr system. he said they only have glossy displays, but he'll get back to me, after asking if a matte will occour somewhen (soon).

    2. size mismatch: again he want's to come back on this one after consulting the marketing dep. (no clue why the marketing has to be contacted, but i really cant get anywhere close to the stated 27-33mm thickness, anyone else?)

    3. lcd back cover: he said the backcover means the plastic arround the lcd, which is black for sure. (i'd guess that he had no real clue about it)

well.. Dell could get a new slogan: "Dell - We got NO clue about it!".

They should really hire someone to correct their order-describtions.. it does say: LCD BACK lid.. In my world, the FRONT is where the screen is visible and the back is.. well the back of the screen!

How you like the screen Gordon? got the samsung or LG one? :)

I am looking at the screen right now :) and it is matte. No way to know for sure if it is RGB LED though....I am pretty confident that it is, I can tell it has a wide color gamet, wider than the other 4400 that Dell sent which had the 2ccfl backlight. I would love though to see the internals of the display, Hmmmmm, if it were secured with screws I would be tempted to have a peek, but it appears to snap together and without knowing exactly where the catches are.....

I was surprised that there are no stickers or anything claiming it to be RGB LED, they are really quietly marketing this fact. And the lack of any documentation in the packaging.

well it is a business notebook. i find it quite amusing with the japanese/taiwanese brands which put stickers all over the place stating all the various features. :S seems somewhat redundant and boastful maybe?

janik_dk: so far i like the display. but i've to admit, that i've used it only interior, and with the weather outside no sun/window light problem occurs..

how can i tell, if its a lg or samsung?
