I'm getting ready to order an m4400 with the FX770 gpu. I work on my computer, but it's purely business programs. I do use photoshop and edit videos, but I'm also an avid strategy gamer.....like Sins Solar Empire, Supreme Commander and occasionally COD and Orange box. Question is which CPU: 2.53, 2.8, X9100 or Quad. I can afford any of them, but if they're not going to help run my Strat games smoother, then I don't want to spend the money. Strat games tend to be CPU intensive. I've studied the Sagers, etc but the RippleBack has got into my 'craw' :D Which CPU?
    Opinions?

Get the T9600. With much less heat than the X9100 and more chomping power than the T9400, it's a perfect win/win. Like me, you can buy the X9100 when the prices lower, but I'm probably gonna get a new laptop next year if Dell can beat the design of the M4400 (though unlikely to happen, also unlikely they even release new power-crunching models like this). And when you upgrade to the X9100, you can sell me your T9600 w/ a price $free.99.

(J/k, I will buy it though!)

Ya...definitely a bit of creative dimensioning by dell there Gordon.

38mm in the center, which is the highest point,35.8mm at the back, and 35mm at the front....the feet are 1.8mm high,so even if you subtract that, you don't get near the 27-33mm that dell specify....not that it particularly bothers me,as I use a coolslice which add's another 6 or 7mm,but yeah....specs are specs....liars:D

I too have looked around for a third party reseller of 2X4GB laptop memory. Based on what I've read, nobody is reselling it because of the high cost. Please post if you can find it anywhere!!

Why do you guys need 8GB for? No speed increase, no point in buying it if you're not already using all 3.5-4GB every day. Why waste the money if it's expensive?

On another note, if you -do- need 8GB, you can buy a 2x4GB on memoryc from G.Skill, but it's slightly slower (Dell's default & max is DDR2-800 while this one is DDR2-667). However, you as a human probably won't notice it with a clean system and @ 8GB you really don't need much else.

    G.Skill 2x4GB DDR2-667 @ $141.25 a stick, total w/ ground shipping to the US is $292.50

    Cheapest deal I've found.
