Unfortunately, in the M4400, it is.

52 degrees is normal for this system. Did you try any heavy gaming to see if it downclocks? I'd say test as much as you can as soon as you can to see what's the case.

hm, i think i had yesterday some strange sort of downclocking problem.

the gpu downclocked itself to 100mhz, and not going up anymore. a reboot solved this though..

Curious as to what your machine's DPI setting is, under monitor properties, advanced, general tab, you can set the DPI from the default 96dpi to 120dpi or custom to make items larger, also you can change just font sizes in the apperarances tab.

But the font looks like a condensed version or something? Weird.

My M4400 is going back to Dell - it was a wonderful laptop for 12 days.
But today i turned it on.. and the screen is all pink (severe pink tint..).. i try reboot.. - no luck - i try another reboot - still pink.. i shut it down.. screen back to normal. Later today i turn it on and get a blue screen at windows boot-screen.. try to restart - same result bluescreen. (the blue screen is visible for 2 sec, then it restarts).

So.. i spend around 3600 USD on this one..and that price is simply too high for a great laptop for 12 days! I can't affrod spending that much money on such a unreleable product - and i can't affrod all the time i would use to troubleshot it.

I'll put my "laptop dreams" on hold for a while.. and see if the future brings more stable laptops :)

Hopefuly you just got a bad one, and haven't spent too much time on the forums and figure all M4400s are bad. Forums tend to be a place where people look for fixes (Which tends to focus on the negatives) rather then bragging about the good. I'm sure that the vast majority of M4400 are fine. Anyway good luck on your decision.

Sure! - This forum is a great place for fixes about M4400's (and E6500's for that matter..) - i have just spend too much time in here for fixing problems rather than just enjoying my pretty expensive laptop :)

This is the 2. Dell laptop to let me down in 2 months.. and that is too much in my opinion :)

I'm following this thread from day to day because I'm thinking about buying the M4400. I'm a software developer so my main point of interests are a display with a high resolution (prefering LED) and enough RAM (4GB).

Because the RBG LED wasn't selectable on the Belgian Dell website I mailed my whishlist to Dell and I got my configuration and price back from Dell today.

And I have to say I'm really happy with the price. On the Belgian website there was a promo with a 300 euro discount and now I even got an extra discount of 100 euro. I made a manual config on the website with the 2CCFL display and now I've got a config from Dell with the RGB LED and even 100 euro cheaper. Wauw! Total price: 2060 euro (tav included).

Tomorrow morning I'm going to confirm my order. They mentioned a delivery period of 3 weeks. So this should be a great New Year's present for myself.

    The full config:
