I am trying to use the contactless smart card as a login to the Windows. Is this possible?? If so what kind of smart card do I need?

Thanks for your help in advance.

It is possible, but usually it's to authenticate yourself onto an enterprise network through a domain controller (i.e. your credentials stored in Active Directory).

Local logins (when away from the corporate network) use cached certificates for authentication.

Nope, it won't be included. Dell is stingy when it comes to these extras. You could ask Dell about it or try eBay.

There are TWO 2.5" HDD slots for the M4600 right? Cause you can configure TWO full size HDD online.

    Can anyone confirm this?

I got mine too with the 1000m (and IPS panel :D) - ordered monday, in production by tues/wed and handed off to UPS by friday. WHOAH!

Stepping down from the 2000M to the 1000M made the IPS panel more affordable. now I am a little worried that the 1000M might not suit my needs so well - mainly I'll be doing Photoshop and Lightroom with it. Maybe a little gaming once off-hours =)

I am considering getting more RAM - which particular RAM would you suggest if on a budget? any mSATA SSD suggestions as I want to keep the HDD and DVD drive.

If Quadro FX 1000M is not powerful enough for your needs you can always upgrade the graphics card given that Dell used MXM modules this time and not chips soldered directly on the motherboard. I have no idea about where one can buy spare Quadro FX2000M or Firepro 5950 though, not even Dell does, and if they did the parts would probably cost like a new complete unit LOL.

I have the M4600. I have the controlvault fingerprint reader driver installed

The problem is the dell site does not offer the APPLICATION that i need to setup security and fingerprint scanner for windows logger.

I had M4500 before and I used the controlpoint driver and application that was both provided in the site. But those dont work with M4600.

I called the tech support and they got no idea...

    PLEASE HELP

I asked them too. and they told me that you don't need third-party applications but just search 'fingerprint' in the start menu and you can find one.

    Sorry for my bad English.

Assuming the M4600 has the same software as the M6600, you need to install the 3 downloads under Dell Data Protection (driver, then middleware, then application in that order) under Drivers and Downloads on the Dell web site.
