Go to the Dell download site and one of the service manuals has all the parts and how to replace them with pictures along with written instructions. It's so well done even I haven't wrecked anything yet and I've been poking around enough that I would have busted something by now were they not very clear on what to do and how to do it. After lots of matte screens I much prefer the edge to edge both for looks and ease of keeping clean. It's probably glass because I've been using Windex on it without problem and usually they tell you to use nothing but warm water or whatever.

I downloaded the manuals but I'm not finding any part numbers.

I wonder where they are getting them for ebay descriptions.

My first M6400 had a T9400 and now I have a Q9100 (it should run as hot as the QX9300 cause Intel uses the best dies for the QX9300).
The T9400 was in the high 30ies°C (96-100°F) while in idle and around 65°C during load (145°F). The quad-core is a bit cooler during idle and a bit hotter during load.

    Hi guys,
I'm wondering about the status of Blu Ray writers for the m6400. If seen people asking about it but couldn't find a reply yet.

Which blu-ray writers fit the m6400? 9.5mm, right? There really hard to find on google even.
What's the part number for the one Dell uses and can it be found elsewhere (=cheaper) ;) ?
There's rumors on a Panasonic 9.5mm blu-ray writer (from 2008!), but I can't seem to find the device.

Also, I've stumbled across help on the audio-stutter problem, something about installing drivers in the right order - but I can't find that post anymore. Could someone please point me to it? That'd be great. I have a feeling I might need it... ;)

I've finally ordered my m6400, and it's on its way - hurray!!! :)))

    Any help much appreciated,
    Schinkster

Sorry I didn't clarify more. On the download page choose 'system configuration' and enter your service tag and all the parts, with numbers is listed for your particular machine.

If it's orange does that make it a Covet? Because other than the color what's the difference besides the upgraded standard hardware?
