Hi manicguitarist, the 6400 was pre-loaded with XP 64bit, will not shut down or re-start at all, after windows closed off everything, the screen went blank and stays that way, I have to press the on/off button for a few seconds to turn it off. Happens everytime. Tried to restore back to Vista Bus. 64 with the supplied DVD, again hang after loading all the files. Even tried to load Linux, that failed too. Used Dell's supplied diag. program, did not pick up any fault. I am sure this is a hardware issue. Call Dell support, luckily the lady I spoke to authorised the swap out straight away. She said they will have to build another one for me and will take 10 days.

Am I the only one who is checking the Dell website order status every 30minutes or so?

I need to get a life I think...

Hehehe. I know that feeling! Mine was meant to be delivered today, but after waiting from 8am I decided to call Walsh Western at 4.30 as the Covet still hand't arrived. I was informed there had been a mix-up and the machine hadn't been loaded onto the van. I have to wait until tomorrow morning for delivery. So near and yet so far....

Hmmm, I'm searching and searching - but still no success.

Where can I find an explanation of the status lights? Or in common, is there a M6400 specific manual - not the manual where everything about vista or xp is explained or the other one - explaining how to disassemble the notebook.

    Any ideas?

No - he was saying *not* that one. He wants one that gives info on what all the lights and stuff do.

I went away, like you, determined to find one a post it up here - and after downloading the SM, the DTG and setup and quick reference, none of them have the info he desires.
Does it come with the M6400on a CD perhaps?

I'd be interested too if anyone has one.
