I guess this little beast of a portable deserves an owner's lounge too.

I have one on order. It's shipped so I hope it will be here next week. How do you like it so far? How long have you had it?

I've had it for a bout two weeks. I really like the laptop. I can't think of any issues I have with it at all. It gets a little warm around the left palm area after some intensive prolonged use, but not bad at all really.

It's built like a tank! Love it. @Milky Way...do a mini review when you get it. I'll post up some pics of it next to my Dell Precision m4400.

How good is the antiglare LED screen on the 1220, in terms of brightness, viewing angles, contrast, etc?

Is text very sharp and clear? I'm trying to decide between the Vostro and a D430 and the screen is the deciding factor. Thanks!

Here's my take: I've had both the Standard True Life screen and the LED screen.

They both are of equal brightness, and clarity I would say.
Viewing angles are more narrow on the Truelife than the LED.
Glare is less on the LED because it's antiglare. I had no problem with the Truelife though in that regard.
I would have kept the Truelife screen if it were not for the excessive light bleeding at the bottom of the screen which was a defect not a characteristic of the screen according to tech support. I had my replacement come with an LED (premium) screen, a larger HD, but without a Fingerprint reader. The replacement was also new replacing an Outlet machine. I got Win7 on the new one, Vista basic on the first one. I had to pony up a difference, but liked the unit well enough to do that.

When I get home I'll post some pics. I'm using the 1220 right now.

Specifically to answer your question: The screen is bright and clear. It seems as nice as my Precision LED screen. Brightness is a big issue with me. I'd go mad working or playing on a laptop with a dim screen. I wear trifocals, and brightness, clarity and contrast is very important to me. However, I'm not a professional photographer, etc.

I would reorder, and did :)

Thanks for the reply. I look forward to seeing your pics. The 1220 looks like a great little machine.

I just recently bought one of these, I got it from the outlet. I was surprized as to how nice of a laptop this is. The screen was one of the things I was really pleased about. The color is good, not to much glare from it. Overall I think the build quality is very good considering the model. There is only one speaker and it sucks, and there's no Beyonce wallpaper, but other than that this is a great machine for the price.

How much did you pay for it with the LED screen? How are the vertical viewing angles?
    Thanks.

I don't know what screen I have. I bought it through the outlet as a pre. ordered new. It's probably the standard screen. Viewing angles are good, I've seen worse and better. I paid 449 for it. P8600, 2GB's RAM BT 160 GB HD.
