    And it's X 768 16:9.............16:10 and full power cpu's ftw :D

Did some of you guy's buy an ultraportable so you could go and hide from your wives/partner's more easily to play your RTS game's.....eh...eh, come on now, tell the truth:)

Having said that, it would be interesting to see how it would manage something like the original far cry and HL2.....purely from an technical interest point of view of course ;)

That's good information for us gamers reloader-1.

Sins of a Solar Empires plays fine except for the following:

    I can't change the resolution
I can't turn on AA...give me no option.

Looks good and plays smooth so I'm not complaining. I played about 3 hours last night and the 1220 got a little warm, but not bad at all.

This is where this Vostro has an advantage over those relatively weak new low voltage units, like the V13...plus throw in 5-6 hours battery life (not gaming). Isn't nice to have your cake and eat it too? :D

Btw, I have the p8600 2.4 ghz processor.

    Keep the reports coming !

Thanks for the info Milky Way.

Would you mind letting me know under what your screen brightness was set to and which battery you used (4cell or 6cell) for the battery test? Was WLAN on the whole time? Also, how was the fan noise while doing light work/web browsing?

Because I have WLED the screen is bright even with low settings. I used it at two or three steps up from lowest possible settings. It's comfortable to work with that setting. I have the 6-cell battery.

WLAN was on all the time.

You can hear the fan all the time even if you're just doing light work. It's worse than my old Acer with AMD cpu in this regard. Pretty much my only complaint agains this laptop.

Btw I think you can get even longer battery life than I did, if you do light work all the time. My last hour was a bit more demanding with the flash movies I looked at.

Do you use a notebook cooler? I use one all the time and I don't think I've ever heard my fan, even while gaming. I'll listen for it tonight and see if I can hear it.

Nope. However, I use it on a flat hard surface and the 6-cell battery lifts the back of the laptop up a bit so that air can reach the air inlets easily.

It works great. It's fast and stable. I've used Windows 7 before, so I'm used to the new taskbar etc. I have the 32-bit version, so I only get to use 3.46 GB of my 4GB memory.

BTW, I used my Vostro again on the battery yesterday and got 5h and 45min of battery life with WLAN and BT enabled. I also have the 7200rpm 250GB harddrive.
