I set my switch to only turn off Bluetooth radio in the BIOS to increase battery life because I've switched to a nano-type wireless mouse....anyone else do this?

I've been on Battery since 6pm EST...it still says I have 2 hours and 15 minutes left....It's 9.15pm now....this using Linux Mint 8 x64. Great laptop combining some muscle and batt life, small footprint....

I saw a vostro 1220 at this starbucks, i love that place you always see the most awesome machines there. Anyway, great looking machine but it seems that the lid is kinda weak and flexible.

the 1220 sitting in front of me has a lid that is thick, and sturdy...sure you're thinking about the right machine? This isn't one of those 'thin, underpowered' notebooks

I agree with theZoid. The 1220 is very sturdy. I can detect no keyboard flex, the screen is very rigid and if you pick it up by the corner of the base with the lid open, there is no give.

Well, FWIW, if you only "saw it" I am a bit confused about how you could form an opinion on it's sturdiness. I own one and have actually tried to flex it to see how sturdy it is. Alas, I do not agree with your conclusion. I have no vested interest in Dell (we have a 19" HP and the 1220 laptops in our house) and I really can't see how your "non-hands on" (at least that's how I interpret "I saw") evaluation can be accurate. Perhaps I have mis-understood what you meant - if so I apologize.

Sheesh why must people so offensive and mean for godsake. Its basic business ultra portable. From looking at sony z series screens and touching them and see how weak they look and feel, due to LED panel that is so skinny. I could tell right away how similar it was to the z machine. It did look a bit more sturdy.

? i dont think anyone's being offensive and mean. he just said he dosent agree with your conclusion due to the possiblity of you not having actually touched it.
